Hey, my name is Erica! I was charting for 3 or 4 months a couple of years ago to get a handle on what my cycles were like. I stopped because I was getting to obsessive... Now my Dr recommends that I start back up again. So I am on CD3. I really don't want to because I think it is pointless. Can someone tell me the benefits, other "knowing for sure you ovulate" cause I already know I do that.

1. To see when and if you ovulate
2. To calculate the cycle length
3. To assess if you made love at the right time
4. To diagnose a pregnancy early on
5. To evaluate your cycle for fertility problems
6. To see if your fertility medication was successful
7. To correlate other fertility signs such as cervical mucus or cervical position with actual ovulation on a BBT chart
8. To calculate the follicular and the corpus luteum phases (a key to possible infertility issues)

Ditto. And...

9. To get an accurate due date to avoid birth complications (being induced based on LMP or u/s dates when it's actually too early, and it turns into a disaster!a)

I'm new too and I think it's amazing what you can learn by charting.

I agree. #3 and #8 being the biggest reasons to me. If you are having a short luteal phase that could definitely affect your fertility and charting would really help rule that out as a problem.
