Ok so I am really confused today. Yesterday I met with a Ob-Gyn (which I waited over 3 months for), I took the day off work cause it was just outside of the city. Anyways the doctor was really aweful, she was so mean. Telling me to stop temping, stop reading etc. She was running late cause of the last patient so she was really cranky. She even bad mouthed the last patient to me when I walked into her office! Then she just basically yelled at me because she had no test results from my last blood (progesterone) which were inconclusive because as soon as I ovulate a few days later I get AF! Which is why I'm there. My lp is only 5 days long. This is my second cycle using clomid and it seems to have helped me O ealier. Now she wants me to go for more blood tests (one today for progesterone cd21) and then again on day 3. She's like you might not even be O'ing at all-which I don't understand why cause I get positive's on OPK, O monitor and my chart points it out. I really didn't like her at all. I seriously felt like I was in trouble-every time she asked me an answer she just barked at me saying I should know this! She made me so nervous and so not comfortable. I'm thinking about calling my doctor on Monday to ask for a new referal-but I just don't want to wait another 3 months! What if I'm not O'ing at all? What can they do-since I'm already on Clomid? Also I was thinking about starting progesterone cream-since the doctor gave me nothing at all yesterday when I asked for the suppositories. Maybe I should wait until my blood work results are in-what do you think? Sorry so long. Just really upset right.

I'd get a new Dr no matter how long the wait. You should never feel like that with someone who is supposed to help you. I don't know about what to do about your cycle, but I'd get a new Dr ASAP!

I agree, NO doctor should EVER make you feel that way. I would get a new doctor too even if you do have to wait. That is just so unprofessional. I am sorry you were treated like dirt. {{{Hugs}}}

No way would I put up with a DR like that! I am sure other places can work you in sooner than 3 months....why such a long wait to begin with?

I would def be asking for a new doctor... maybe if you explain to your family doc what happened he/she might have something they can suggest or give you in the meantime? Have you tried B6 to help try and lengthen your LP at all?
I'm also going to ask something that may seem far out, have you tried acupuncture? Not as a doctor replacement, but if you have to wait 3 mos to see someone else... I went in for my IBS and also told her we were TTC and that I'd been charting and she was interested in knowing what they looked like. When I told her she said, hmmm, your thermal shift isn't as high as I'd like it and your LP is shorter than I'd like to see it and she did do some reproductive treatments on me. I had only started temping and haven't gone back because my IBS symptoms are pretty much nonexistant, but I liked that was willing to try something kwim?
Anyway, I'm so sorry you got treated like that, and while our health system is good, the cost can be the downfall at the same time... just to get an appt with my doc takes 3 weeks. Usually you go to the doc cuz you need something dealt with now

Wow! I can't believe how terrible she was to you! I would get the blood tests done while I had the chance and start working on finding another Dr. Is she an RE?? The Dr I am seeing is wonderful and he was very happy to see my charts. (I have a short LP too, but not nearly as short as yours!) I'm sorry she was such a witch!

Thanks ladies-I totally appreciate all of your support. I've been taking B6, B100 complex for the past couple of months. Also I just started taking vitex as well. As for accupuncture I've been seeing one for about 2 months now-going once a week and taking herbal meds. I've also been doing reflexology for about 3-4 months. I called my doctor but the receptionist is away until Monday so I was told to call back then. I'm going to do the blood tests but definately change doctors no matter what. So tired of this waiting game.

Good for you. I'd totally change doctors no matter what too. There's no way I'd ever tolerate being treated like that. It's totally unprofessional for her to discuss other patients with you or anyone else. How can you have any confidence that she will exercise prudence with your information? Screw that!!
I hope you find a new doc very soon and are able to get in and see them.
Best of luck to you sweetie!!

It does look like you're Oing, but something is definitely off with your LP. Progesterone cream likely won't do much, it's really a very low amount and my personal opinion is that you need substantial progesterone support.
Not only does your doctor sound rude, but clueless as well. CD21 progesterone indeed. The whole point of that test is to check progesterone levels at 7 DPO, assuming that everyone ovulates on Cd14. Nice one doc, only 12% of women do that. She should have ordered the progesterone draw for 7DPO, no matter what cycle day it is. And the fact that you can't even reach 7DPO without bleeding is a huge clue that something is wrong.
Have you thought of consulting a Fertility Care specialist? They specialize in using your chart as a diagnostic tool, and a reference for deciding when to do certain hormone tests. They are very thorough!

That's exactly what I was thinking. When I explained to her how short my lp was and that I couldn't get to 7dpo she's like then you're not O'ing. She also was asking me when I thought that I should bd I said well it depends on when my body was gearing up to O. She's like no only have sex on days 12-17 but I was like I'm not O'ing until cd 19 so how does that work. She was such a cow! As for the fertility specialist who should I ask for the referral (either my gp or gyn??) I was told that because it hasn't been over a year they won't do anything for me.

You may not need a referral if you dont have HMO....but if you want/need one, probably from your gyn.

Ok, she's definitely clueless. Don't waste your time with her, it will get you no place. For mainstream fertility specialists, you probably need a referral. But for the link I sent you, just check the website I linked for the office nearest to you and give them a call. I'm pretty sure you don't need a referral. I saw one of their doctors for my PCOS and she was so helpful!

You have EVERY right to demand better treatment and in a more timely matter.
Every Dr's office keeps a few "emergency" spaces free for special situations.
Go back to your Dr and tell them what happened and DEMAND to be seen by someone else and in a timely matter.

I would definitely ask for a referral to another doctor. You could also ask your current doctor if he'd be willing to write you a prescription for a progesterone supplement while you are waiting to get into the new doctor. It can't hurt to ask him. The most he can say is no.
