I don't think my sleeping patterns are conducive to BBT charting. My Husband wakes up at 3 AM to go to work, so I have been using this time as my temp time. But some nights I go to sleep at 10 and some at 11:30. I notice that the night s I go to bed later my temps are higher. I used to do my temps at 7, but I wake up during the night several times, which throws my temps off! What should I do? Should I give up on temping? Check out my chart, my temps are riding but I am not due to ovulate for another 4-5 days!

If you are going to bed between 10 and 11:30 temping at 3 should work out just fine. I don't think going to bed an hour and a half later would affect your temps. As long as you are fully rested and getting at least three hours of sleep before you temp you should be fine. The temp rise may be unrelated. I know when I first started charting I would think my temp dropping was because of it being colder or all kinds of different thoughts and now that I have been doing this a while I realize that little things don't really make that big of a difference with my chart.

I would keep temping at the 3am time and see what happens. I think you will be fine. Hopefully you ovulate soon.

Maybe temp vaginally?

As long as you are getting at least 3 hours of sleep before temping, it doesn't matter what time you go to bed.

As far as waking up, are you waking up and getting up and moving around or do you just wake up for a minute (or even a bit) and fall back asleep? Generally as long as you aren't up and moving around your temp should be just fine. :-)

I generally get up twice a night to use the washroom. But between 10 and 3 I just thought that getting less sleep would mess with my temps. So my temp should be unaffected whether I go to sleep at 10 or 11:30?

Your temps should be just fine. And it's little things like this that reinforce the whole "it's not about a single temp, but about the overall pattern that matters". So just keep on temping at the same time each night and you'll see that it will work for you.
