Yayy !!! Im 3 DPO and now on to the TWW! My first official one! Now of course I couldnt post anything without a question lol so here it is... FF has my O date as the 28th, however, on the 29th I had some serious O pains. I know that it was O pains and not anything else because I had the same exact feelings when we were TTC our son. So my question is... could my O date be off a day, even though my temps seem to go with the 28th? Or could you feel O pains the day after it happens?

Yay for O'ing!!

I'm not going to be of much help in answering your question, but it made me wonder, again, why it's thought that we O the day before our temp rise?

For YEARS women would take their temps each day and when they got a high temp, that's when they would BD to get pregnant because when your temp went up, that meant you were ovulating. It didn't mean that you HAD ovulated, it meant that you WERE ovulating. So why the change? I personally think this "you O before your temp rise" is why so many people miss their chance each month...because they don't BD the day of their temp rise...they assume it's over and done with.

Hmm I never heard that before, but it does make sense with the pains that I was feeling because it was the day that my temp rose. Well we DTD the day before my O pains (my FF O date).... I wanted to try that night but I was in soo much pain! Hopefully the lil swimmers were waiting to catch the eggy! If not, then Ill know for next month!

Thanks ladies! Oh and I never introduced myself, but my name is Bryanne!

You can have o pains before, during and after you ovulate. I often have them after I ovulate. The pain you feel can be from your fallopian tube contracting as it moves your egg down the tube. I think your o date looks right.

As for Michelle's comment, I think Shawna has posted before that you can ovulate the day you see a temp shift. Charting isn't an exact science. When your temp goes up it is due to the increase in progesterone that happens after you ovulate but it is hard to say when that shift happens. Supposing you ovulated early in the morning your temp could go up that morning. You know? I think the point is to time it as close to that shift as possible.

Oh ok, thanks that helps. I didnt know that you can have pains after you ovulate. That leaves me a little bit more optomistic for this cycle
