Ok, so this is wayyyy off topic but I wanted to get your opinions. Alright, so my husband and I have these friends that found out they were pregnant earlier this year and are due in December. Well as soon as they found out I lent her my baby books and name books. So soon after that they were talking to us about names and their top names were Nicholas and Gianna. Keep in mind that my son's name is Nicholas..... AND I wanted the name Gianna for a girl. So since they were dead set on those two names she gave me back my baby name book and I was still wondering where they came up with Gianna. Well, I remembered that I wrote in the book my top baby names.... and what do you know... Nicholas was #1 for me for a boy and Gianna was #1 for a girl. I was a little put off by this but I figured that since it was so early that they might change their mind. So, flash foward to when they know its a boy.... she told me they were naming him Nicholas James ... that is my son's EXACT name! I just looked at her dumbfounded and she said that they would then change his middle name, and they did (I didnt ask her too, they chose to). Soooo flash foward again (sorry I told you it was long! lol) she asked me for help with her registry and I did, pointing out little helpful things that you dont think of until you have a baby. So I check her registry before I went out to help her and she has pretty much EVERYTHING exactly the same as ours. I mean, ok, if you like the Graco pack-n-plays then get it, but why get mine that is in an "older" print? The pack-n-play isnt the only exact thing on her registry, there are simply too many to list! And to top it off she got my Vera Bradely diaper bag in the same print! I worked hard to save up little money here and there to get it because I wanted something different.... and those bags arent cheap! Oh and to top that off... as if she hasnt already... I got her baby shower invite the other day, and what do you know, its the same one! I cried and laughed at the same time! Its soooo rediculous! She always talks about seeing her baby Nicholas for the first time, and whenever she says that, my heart just sinks. I dont have the heart to bring this up to her because she is having a very difficult pregnancy.
Am I over reacting or would this bother some of you too? I am going to feel like freaks walking around with the same stroller, same diaper bag and with the same kids name lol! Most of my friends agree with me thats its just too wierd, but I wanted to see what you ladies think.

Hi, I just have to say I would totally wierded out too! I mean, I have a hard enough time with a name I want to use even though it was my DH's grandma's first name so it seems like it should be ok but it is one of my aquaintance type of friends' daughter's middle name so I dont want it to seem like I stole her middle name. So for this friend of your's to not only use your sons name and say she would want to use the girl name that you flat out wrote down was your top choice... I would be fuming! Then add all the other little details and I would be just like you and feel like I'm going mad!! What a bizaar situation... I mean I do understand maybe her admiring your taste in things so maybe having things similar because your's inspired her but to just decide to do it exactly the same.. Not cool.
How close of friends are you guys even?
Oh and I just noticed you are a military wife too, what branch and where are you stationed?

I have to say that we were really close, hanging out every weekend but ever since this started, my husband and I have chose to be more distant, its just too wierd! Her husband has been gone training pertty much her whole pregnancy so I have tried to be there for her, but its just hard because Im so upset about it but Im not going to tell her because of all of her complications.
My husband is in the Air Force but he may be switching branches soon. We have been in New Mexico now for about 2 years and we are ready to leave lol! What branch is yours in?

Ugh, I am so wierded out by this chick and its not even my situation! I would keep my distance too but do agree that it probably isnt even worth it to say anything. It wasnt just one small thing that was a little over the line, the whole situation is so far over the line that it would be extremely awkward and is not worth it.
We are Air Force, too! Are you at Cannonn then? I have heard that it isn't very pleasant there, DH says that it's one of the "black holes" of the AF along with places like Minot and if it were me, I'd rather Minot. lol
What is your husband going to go into and how long has he been in?

LOL luckily its not Cannonn, and yea I would take Minot over Cannon any day! We are at Kirtland in Albuquerque. He would love to go into the Marines but we can afford him to loose rank so itll probably be the Army. Hes trying to cross train into Aerial Gunner, but he has one more month left before his package will be automatically denied. Hes already in a critically manned field so he needs to cross train into another critically manned field (wow that was confusing lol). He has been in since '07, so about 2 1/2 years. Where are you guys stationed?

That would be hard having to think about losing rank, that is definately a deciding factor! My DH is also considering looking into the critically manned career fields if we are going to stay in. Unfortunately he won't go into the Army so it's this or get out and face the economy... which basically means that we're stayin put! But all in all, I'm ok with that because at least our deployments are only 6 months, so if we have to stay in than we can be separated as infrequently as possible. Are you scared of the Army's deployments?? Gosh, I'm praying for you already!
Anyway, DH has been in for going on 8 years we are stationed in WA state at McChord AFB. It's a beautiful base and there is alot to do here but hate how suuuper busy it is folks arent that friendly from what I have found so far. Plus his supervision has made it pretty hard to endure so we are still hoping for orders.. We updated his dream sheet as soon as the latest list of openings came out so that our list matched so that we would have chance of at least getting somewhere but ended up being the ONLY one in his whole section that did NOT get orders!! Can you believe that horse crap?! lol, give me a break... It's so annoying and frustrating that it's almost laughable!

My BFF just had her first baby in May, before she settled on Lucas for his name... she considered MY favorite names. She actually said "can I get a list of your favorite boy names? I want to see if I like anything." Are you kidding me?
The name was too much for me, I think I'd be real upset about all the stuff being copied, too.

Whoa. That's reeeeally creepy.
I agree that if your taste inspired her and all, that's one thing... but it almost seems like she's trying to mirror your life.
Creepy.

Ughh I know, the ecomony is whats making my dh stay in. He just absolutely hates his job, so I cant blame him for trying something different. Luckily his job isnt deployable, but if he is able to cross train then I will deffinetly be ok with the 6 month deployments... rather than the Army's.
I heard McChord is beautiful! That sucks about you guys not getting orders, we want to leave so bad too. Dh changed his dream sheet recently too, we are hoping for FL or GA... we are ready to be back on the east coast.... or at least not in the desert!
I knew that my close friends agreed with me but its reasuring that the rest of the "world" does at well! But yeap, Im not giving her any more advice!!

I agree. I probably wouldn't say anything either. Obviously if she doesn't have the sense not to steal your names she wouldn't get it anyway. She sounds kind of weird. My dh liked the name Ryan but my best friend's little boy was named Ryan so I didn't pick it. She said she wouldn't care but I would have felt weird about it.
Your friend seems kind of strange.

That does seem like a total Lifetime movie!!! I would be fuming if I were you. My DH and I always have liked the name Jacob but his best friend's son is named Jacob so that is automatically out for us. The fact she's picking everything the same is very weird...I mean, I want help picking stuff out when it's time, but I would at least pick out different prints or colors or something LOL.... good luck to you and I think you're a great friend for being there for her even when she's a little wacko! LOL

I always wondered why she would get the same exact prints of everything! And thanks, with our hubands in the military neither of us has family out here so Im trying to be as much as a support that I can be. Shes been having possible seizures and has been hospitalized ever since she has gotten pregnant so even though she just doesnt get it about the whole copying thing, I cant turn my back on her when shes going through this by herself.
