Hello ladies...I hope you don't mind if I come over here
I'm Chelsea (22) married to Sam (24) and momma to Brylie Ann (almost 2 months!!! )
I am ready to be pregnant again, but for my body's sake we won't be "trying" until August 2010. Brylie's conception required IUI due to PCOS but I'm hoping the prengnancy/birth will help my body learn how to do it on its own and not require MA
I am EBF so I know my period could be gone until she weans (Ideally I would let her self wean, but selfishly I don't want to wait longer than a year to TTC, and if we will require MA we're going to start the process in October 2010 due to me only wanting summer babies....we are an hour from our hospital and I can't imagine trying to drive down there in an Iowa blizzard so that nixes winter....DH is a farmer so he isn't around in the spring/fall too often...nixing those seasons!)
So has anyone charted while BF'ing? I'm new to charting, but I would like to do it to know if I do ever ovulate...obviously not really a possibility until AF returns, but maybe I'll O before my first AF.
DH and I DTD quite often and if I did get pregnant now it wouldn't be an issue...but after January it would be a little upsetting (obviously we would be thrilled, just not ideal!)

Anyway, long intro Sorry! I am hoping for some insight on EBF (I do pump a lot because I dont NIP well, and DH LOVES to feed Brylie) and charting

Thanks

Welcome to the charting board!!!!

I have charted and breastfed but not until AF returned. It is hard to say when AF will show. Some gals get their AF back right away but I didn't get mine back until my kids were around a year old. I think charting is a good idea because you may ovulate before your first post partum AF or you could get AF first. It is just hard to say. I think it would be good for helping you get into practice with it and to see when your fertility returns. My first postpartum AF while bfing was not much of an AF. It was just like one day or maybe two of spotting.

so say I started charting tomorrow (hypothetically, I need a new BBT) would I just say that's CD one and potentionally have a 300 day cycle?

Yeh that is how I would do it. You may have a really long chart until you start ovulating again.

I'd say CD 1 was the day Brylie was born. That's what I did for my chart anyways. Hopefully it'll show if you O or not while EBF'ing, assuming you haven't already. I don't think I actually O'd before AF showed up the first time. It has been the most pleasant visit I've had in years and should have been far, far more painful if I'd actually O'd. Though, I think you can O any time before AF shows so maybe it'd happen soon or maybe it'd happen six months from now. Have you asked on the BF'ing board? They may know more.

I haven't asked on the BF board..I will though
I haven't been temping since the day she was born (won't start until after I decide to go to wally world and get a new bbt). and there were many sleepless nights where my temp would have been incredibly off, but now that we're getting the sleep issue under control I feel more confident to start

Yeah I can relate to that. I keep trying to temp, but I either don't get enough sleep for it to be anywhere near valid, or I'm so tired when I wake up that I forget why I got up to begin with. Her schedule is settling, but DH's still throws me off. The nights she won't sleep I'm lucky to get in bed by 1 and he gets up no later than 4.
