Hi there! I'm new to the charting world and I have a few questions for you guys. I've been tracking my temps for the past 2 weeks. I've even signed on to Fertility Friend to keep track of everything. This cycle I took Clomid on cycle days 3-7. My last ultrasound (on Friday) showed 2 follicles 23 and 16 respectively. My Doctor's office advised me to trigger Sunday evening (we did around 7:20pm) and I went in yesterday at 2:45 for my IUI.

Ok - so here's my question...after putting in my temp this morning, FF predicted that I ovulated on Saturday. But I didn't do the trigger shot until Sunday...so...who do I believe?

When did I ovulate?!?! BTW - I go back to my Doctor's office tomorrow for an ultrasound to confirm ovulation.

Please help...

~ Kelly

Boy, I just posted a similar question on the medical assistance board. I got my LH surge before the ultrasound. Here is my post over there. http://www.justmommies.com/forums/f7...gger-shot.html (Back from my appt and more questions (didn't need the trigger shot??))

I would ask the girls over there what they think. I don't know enough about this to be that helpful. I would like to see your chart if you don't mind. Can you post a link?

I can see the dilemma. It sure does look like you ovulated on CD17. If it were me I would consider that my o date but you may release more eggs from the trigger shot. I am not really sure. I was trying to read up on this myself earlier.

I would see if the girls on the medical assistance board have any thoughts and I might also talk to your doc about it when you go to your appt. When you go in I would really like to hear what they say because I was wondering myself what happens if you get your LH surge or ovulate before you trigger.

Let me know what you find out. I hope you have a great appt and they can answer all your questions.

Hey Patty! Just wanted to get back to you about my appointment today. I spoke to the nurse who does everything for me...kinda runs the show for the Doctor when he's not there. Anyhoo - I told her all about the temping, the LH surge, the FF prediction of ovulating on Saturday...and she told me to not listen to a thing it says. Now I know I'm on the wrong board for saying this - since all the girls on here are charting their temps...but she said that trutfully I really have no need to (track my temps) since I am followed so closely by her. I understand where she is coming from...I was just hoping to see if I could get a handle on it myself. I know my friend also told me that charting is a wash if you are on any kind of fertility meds. SO I guess I should have just listened to her. As for my LH surge being right before my HCG shot - the more I think about it...it shouldn't really affect anything - basically the LH surge is saying "ok - the eggs are ready" - so giving myself the trigger only ensures that ALL ripe follicles will rupture - not just one (as would happen with just the LH surge alone).

My appointment went well. She confirmed ovulation!!!! My lining was 10.6. She said she could definitely tell that one follicle had ruptured but she was 50/50 on the other. That's cool though - I'm good with that.

Sorry to continue to ramble...I just wanted to make sure I got back up with you about what I found out.

Thanks for listening!!

I have had other docs/nurses blow charting off like it is stupid. I don't think they have enough education on it or maybe they wouldn't say that. I think you probably did start to ovulate when FF marked it but the trigger shot just made sure you did.

Now that you have heard from your nurse I am even more annoyed with my doc's office. I wanted to take the trigger shot but the nurse told me not to that it would mess things up if I started my surge on my own. I posted on the M/A board that I was concerned she didn't know what the doctor was trying to do. I think my doc wanted me to take the trigger shot to ensure that I released the egg on my left side.

I know next cycle I am going to call them back and see if they will do another ultrasound and if they don't tell me to go ahead with the trigger shot I am thinking I am going to take it anyway.

I think you should have a good shot at things so hopefully you will get your bfp this cycle. Please keep us posted on how you are doing!

Hey Patty! Thanks so much for writing back so quickly!! I'm so happy with my doctor's office - I just wish everyone had the same experience I do. The Nurse/Office Manager is ULTIMATE!!!! Seriously - I can talk to her about anything and everything - question her every move and she takes it all in stride.

I don't think not taking the trigger shot is going to hurt you at all...like I said before - I think some give it just as an extra boost for more than one follicle to rupture.

I will definitely keep you posted! Thanks so much for chatting with me!

Take care and Good Luck!

~ Kelly
