I think it looks right too if you go by your cm or I might even pick CD17 as your o date. I think you may just have a slow temp rise.

Progesterone starts to rise just before ovulation, so your temps can start to rise just before ovulation or they can take a few extra days to rise after too. They don't tell you the *exact* day that ovulation occurs.

The CM pattern gives the most accurate reference point for ovulation. Together with the temps, you can narrow it down to a few days when ovulation was most likely. The last day you have slippery/slick CM (even if you don't see any) is the day closest to ovulation. O can happen that day, the day after, and up to 2 days after. It was not CD15 because you can't confirm O if you're still having wet/slippery CM, like on CD16.

Dips are also inconclusive by themselves. Temps can be affected by room temperature, mouth breathing, number of blankets you had on, etc. If a dip seems to fit with the overall pattern, then you can read into it - but it's important to consider all the data together.

I agree with Shawna's explanation, and I would just add that I think the reason FF didn't call CD 15 your O date is 1) Because although there was a big jump up to CD16, the CD16 temp was still approximately in the range of your pre-O temps, and 2) you were still having fertile CM until CD16.

You are correct that you usually O the day *before* the temp jump, but in this case the temp jump from 16-17, although less dramatic, was more meaningful relative to your pre-O temps.

Does that make sense?

I guess I still have a lot to learn. FF first said I O'd on CD15, then it changed it when I put in yesterday's tempt to CD 16. Either way I think we timed things pretty well, possibly even better, since we missed CD 15. Praying for a BFP.

I think this is confusing for a lot of new charters. You can't just use temps to determine your o date. You should be using all of your fertile signs, especially cm. A lot of new charters assume that the lowest temp they see right before a spike is the day they o. I know that I did the same thing when I first started charting and Shawna would come along and tell me to look at my cm.

Here are some things to help you determine your o date. Your first post o temp should be above your previous six pre o temps. On your chart I don't see that happen until CD17. Even though you had a nice temp spike between CD15-16 your temp on CD 16 is still lower than your previous six pre o temps. I think CD 16 could be right based on your cm but it could also be CD17.

Your peak day is the last day that you see fertile cm. This is most likely the day you ovulated. It doesn't always work this way because you can dry up before you ovulate (I usually do). But if you are looking at your chart and you are not sure the day you should go by your cm. In your case, you had your last day of fertile cm on CD16.

You were still having fertile cm after the 15th so that indicates that you probably didn't ovulate yet. If you had ovulated your cm should have started drying up.

So the two big things are when you see your temp go above your previous last six temps and when you see the last day of fertile cm.

Also remember it is not an exact science. But, when in doubt use your cm as a guide.
