How much baby experience do you have? Have you been around babies a lot or is having a new baby going to be a new experience for you?

I have five younger brothers so I had lots of experience changing diapers and caring for babies before I had my own. But, I still remember bringing Jeremy home and feeling weirded out with feelings of I can't believe they let me take him home with me. It just felt so weird for the longest time. Now I think I got the baby thing under control but I will still probably be in awe of my new baby. But the diapers and stuff, I got that covered.

It will be completely, totally and utterly foreign to me...I was the youngest, haven't done anything other than briefly hold a baby since I was probably 12 or 13 babysitting. Wait...what am I thinking? WHY AM I DOING THIS AGAIN??

Before my son was born, I hadn't had a whole lot of experience, but I have a little brother whose diapers I used to change. And I also babysat a lot in middle/high school. So I had a pretty good idea, but it had been a while since I'd been around a baby. I agree with Patty, I thought it was weird when we brought him home. It was weird to think that he was my baby! I'm still changing his diapers, so I don't think it'll be anything new when we have another LO.

I'm the youngest of the family and don't have much experience with babies so it will all be new to me, but I'm very much looking forward to all of it

I'm the youngest... so I didn't have any sibling diapers to change.

But my sister had my niece when I was about 14 or 15. That was my first real experience with babies. Then I went on to work in a daycare where I was responsible for 8 babies under 1 year old, I then spent time in the 1 year old room and finally ended up with the 2 year old room because nobody else wanted the Terrible Twos!

If you add up all the diapering, feeding, burping, consoling, etc... I think I'm MORE then prepared. Although I fully anticipate being in total awe that it's finally MY baby. That's the part I don't think I'll be fully prepared for... how it will feel being MY baby, kwim?

I am the oldest but i was 2 & 5 when my siblings were born, so i didn't learn much then. But I babysat... A LOT! I have cared for newborns on up. I also now teach preschool and sometimes work with the younger kiddos. I have no qualms about being a mom and doing the diaper thing. DH swears he'll be good too. He is almost 28 and his brothers are going to be 17 and 15 in the next couple of months, so he has had an opportunity to change his fair share of diapers. The thing i worry about it bottles and whatever. I have done it but not in a while. So that will take some practice, but thankfully I have a mom who is pretty good at that kind of stuff. She was the middle of 6 kids and has 3 of her own, so she's well schooled. I know it won't take long for me to figure it out!

I had friends who had them before me, we were slightly behind most of our friends LOL. Now I am gettting a little worried because we are all done with diapers so we have at least 9 months of no diapers and then starting all over again. What are we thinking LOL. Should be fun!!

Before my little man was born, I had experience with children from cousins/babysitting and that kind of thing, but no real experience with newborn babies. I was one of the first of my friends to have a baby, so there was a lot to learn. Jeremy was in the nicu for awhile though, so we had some time to practice on him while there were nurses/doctors around before taking him home.

I have about as much experience with babies as a woman can get without having any of her own. I've been babysitting since I was about 10, worked for years in a daycare with children ranging in age from 6 weeks to 12 years. Also in my family there are usually 3-4 babies born each year and I have watched almost all of them. I've even gotten to experience the newborn, overnight care. My niece was a week when she first stayed with me and my cousins son was 6 days old when I picked him up for the weekend. My friend (who's the same age I am) had a baby when she was still in high school...she had no interest in having a child so she stayed with me sometimes for a week at a time from the time she was born. So yeah, I definitely have my fair share of experience.

The ONLY thing that I'm worried about is nursing. I've obviously never done that before and I worry about not being able to. Only time will tell though!
