Now that I have your attention!

Seriously, here's what happened. DH came home early from work tonight...I went to get him something to drink and when I reached for a cup (on the second shelf of the cabinet, I'm short, only 5'3") my lower tummy hit the side of the counter top. It was on the left side and I immediately felt a shooting type pain from my ovary down into my vagina. It quickly went away so I didn't think anything of it. A while later we were leaving to go get ice cream and I noticed that I felt crampy across my lower belly (very low down, just above my pubic bone) when I stood up, but definitely NOT AF type cramps. They were worse on my left side. After about 30 seconds or so the cramping subsided and we left. Well we got about a mile or so away from the house and I told DH, "I'm sorry to have to explain this to you, but if feels like someone tied a string around my left ovary, the front of my vagina and around my clitoris and is pulling it!". (I couldn't really pinpoint the exact area that the pain was radiating to down there and that was the best I could do to describe it. LOL) It was like painful cramping. It lasted for just a few minutes and went away. I've since been cramping occasionally on my left side and again, when I cramp, it's like a pulling sensation happening on the inside of my vagina/clitoris.

Has anyone experienced anything like this??????????????? I seriously have some of the most screwed up threads lately because of my lovely body...

Well I have really painful ovulation but it doesn't sound like you described. I think ovulation pain feels different for everyone though.

I would pay attention to this pain. It almost sounds like a cyst. Ovarian cysts: Symptoms - MayoClinic.com

I have not had this myself so I am hoping others will give you their thoughts.

Well besides the irregular menstrual periods, I don't have any of the other stuff listed there, but it is something to check into with the doctor. If I haven't started in the next few days, I'm going to call for an appointment. I was going to try something natural, but am worried about causing more problems since I don't know why it is that my cycles are getting longer and longer.

I do have to agree with something that was said the other day...if I weren't TTC this would be ideal because I don't have AF to deal with all that often! LOL

I was just thinking the pelvic pain could be a symptom. I also think you could be about to ovulate. I don't think it would be bad to call your doctor though because your cycle has been dragging on forever.

I would call the dr either way. That sounds like an awfully long cycle and that pain doesn't sound good. I hope you get some answers. Good luck.

My first thought was that it sounded to me like you were explaining what happens when a cyst ruptures. With your cycle dragging on like this, I would definitely talk to your doctor about that.

I don't know much about cysts or anything, but a visit to your dr. couldn't hurt, especially with your super long cycles. How frustrating! I hope you get some answers soon!

I have the exact same thing happen to me sometimes. It happens a lot when I'm reaching for something that's high up there, but a lot of the time it happens in the middle of the night, when I'm laying on one side, and I try to turn to the other side by going on my stomach first. I get this pulling pain in my ovary, like something's hanging off of it. I have to stop turning because it's so painful. I have pcos so I'm pretty sure it's a cyst. You should definitely go to the doctor, have your hormones checked out and check for any cysts. Irregular and long cycles are a first sign of pcos.

I have endometriomas (ovarian cysts). I have NO symptoms from them. But the way I found them was because I got this unbelievable cramping sensation like my period but 10 times worse (and no bleeding!). I swear a cyst ruptured but there was no evidence of that on u/s. They had no explanation for the pain other than the fact that I had cysts. But since then (this was like 2 years ago), we have been keeping an eye on the cysts they found and I have had no symptoms.

My point is, it can't hurt to go to the dr and get checked out! My periods were completely normal though, maybe a little heavy but that's it. Good luck!

Michelle - I'm sorry you are having such a lame long cycle and this awful pain! I would have to agree with what the other ladies have said, and recommend you go to the doctor to get it checked - it could be PCOS.

I have been through the "maybe you have PCOS" process so I know a fair bit about the symptoms and with this pain, your long/irregular and possibly anovulatory cycles, and you mentioned in another post that your hair has been thinning - those are all symptoms of PCOS.

I'm not saying you definitely have it, it is such a stupid syndrome with no clear way to diagnose and a million symptoms that could be PCOS but could also be other things, so I don't mean to scare you. But if you do have it you would not only have some trouble TTC (which they can do a lot to help you with) but it also puts you at higher risk for getting diabetes and cardiovascular problems so you definitely want to find out.

Hope you get some answers soon and/or your body starts to cooperate!

Thanks for the information and advice girls, I really appreciate it. I decided that I'm going to hold out just a bit longer on the doctor because today I have EWCM for sure. I've been getting closer to it and have been having a mixture of different CM lately, so I'm going to give myself the next 3 days to see.

Two side notes...unfortunately male pattern baldness runs in my family, so the thinning hair is common just because of my genes so I can't rely on that. LOL Also too, I marked my chart as sleep deprived because I got a little less than 5 hours of really bad sleep last night and was awake a little more than 2 hours earlier than my normal time. I ended up going back to bed at 10:30 and slept till 1:30. Just for the heck of it I took my temp when I woke up, it was 98.13. I know not to use that temp because of the time of day it was taken, but I am PRAYING that I O'd because I haven't had a temp that high, at any time of the day, in a while. (It is the highest temp I've gotten at all during this cycle!)

Michelle, I think you should talk to your doctor even if you do ovulate. I have been thinking this for a while and trying to wait to see what happens. You have been off birth control since May and are still having irregular cycles and you have quite a few symptoms that make me suspect PCOS.

I want to show you a link on hair loss and PCOS. I think the fact that you have other family members having this issue is all the more reason TO get this looked into.
The cause of PCOS is not yet known, although there does seem to be a hereditary factor as PCOS often runs in families (interestingly, men in affected families often go bald during early adulthood, although the reason why is not yet known).
BBC - Health - Womens health - PCOS

Gals with PCOS do ovulate so you may very well ovulate on your own but it is still something I would follow up on. If I am wrong. I am wrong but I don't see the harm in talking to your doctor about this or at the very least about your irregular cycles. I think you should mention that they were irregular when you went on the pill the first time. I think that is relevant.

Honestly, with your crazy cycles, I'd talk to my Dr. My BFF has PCOS & she has really long cycles & cramps & random pains she can't explain. She also has a lot of trouble managing her weight... it rollar coasters all over the place. She had no idea she had PCOS until she went off BC because she was TTC. Her OB-GYN did a lot of blood work & u/s of her ovaries. I went with her for the u/s & you could see the cysts, so I think its very easy to diagnose. The good news is that she had a perfectly healthy pregnancy & has a wondeful 2 year old DS.
Good Luck!

Interesting post title...it definitely made me look!

On a serious note though, I agree with the other ladies that a visit to the doctor couldn't hurt. I hope you can get some answers!

I would call the DR for sure a 60 day cycle is long! I would make a DR appointment and see what is going on. I would have never got pregnant with Paige if I had not made my appointment with my OB good luck.

BTW I am having some wierd feeling too but mine I think is a little higher than yours but on the left side!
