Has anyone had one of these before? I'm having one next Wednesday, and for those who don't know what it is (I didn't know before this either), it's a sonogram where they inject a saline solution into your uterus to get a better picture of what's going on in there.

I don't have the results back from my blood work yet, but they took 12 vials of blood last Monday to test my thyroid and for thrombophilia. I go back tomorrow (on cycle day three - apparently that's the ideal time) to give blood to test my FSH and Estradiol levels.

The nurse practitioner said that I will have less of a chance at getting pregnant this month compared to others because of the tests...specifically, I'm thinking of the saline sonohistogram. So if anyone has had this, is it painful?

I have not had this test but I have had a hystosalpingogram (SP? too lazy to look it up). It is a similar test. It was not painful for me. It is weird that your nurse said that your chances would be lower. I am not sure how this test compares but I was told the opposite about the HSG. I was told that it can improve your chances because the dye helps open up your tubes. The HSG uses a dye and not saline and I am not sure it is checking for the same things. You may want to ask the girls on the TTCWMA board because a lot of them have probably had this test done or know about it anyway.

I think the test you took might be the other one she suggested for me if they decide they want even more information. She said the other test was more expensive and would have to be done in the hospital, and she did mention that it could clear blockages in the tubes.

She didn't really go into any details about why it might be harder, but I was thinking it could possibly mess with the uterine lining. I'll see if TTCWMA knows what's up.

It's good to know your test wasn't painful. That makes me a little less scared.

I did have a lot of cramping afterward but it was like AF cramping. You may need to take ibuprophen or something like that.
