Hi everybody! Today at work, they told us that they would be giving the students the H1N1 nasal spray vaccine on Friday. The nasal spray is a live virus, so the kids may be contagious after. I am in the 2ww. Would you be nervous?

It doesn't put you at risk if the kids get it because their bodies should respond in the proper manner. It would only be a problem if you got it.

That is what I'm worried about. Them being contagious and me getting it. They are telling the pregnant women to ask their OBGYNs about whether or not to be around that day. I know that chances are I'm not pregnant and not going to catch the flu from one of my students, but we are just so close together in my room and using all the same materials all the time. It is making me a bit nervous.

just popping in because I saw your post when searching our boards for h1n1. i am VERY concerned about "shedding" from the flu mist! I have done tons of reasearch and it defintely is a real issue. I would talk with your doctor about it. I did call our county and they are recommending the flumist for breastfeeding women, which surprises me but obviously they dont seem to think it would be an issue because it doesn't get much closer than that.

I am pregnant, and my 4 year old was offered the flu mist today at the pedi. I declined, and will wait for the injection, telling the pedi I was nervous that she could be contagious. She said that shouldn't be a problem, she wouldn't be, but she understands my worry and it was no problem to wait.

I'm not sure how concerned I would be in the 2WW although I'm a worrier so...and even if the chances were minimal, I'd be extra cautious.

We are having an H1N1 flu shot clinic at our school too, although they haven't said if it will be the shot or the flumist. I hadn't thought about being exposed to the kids afterward.

Ugh...I'm so back and forth on getting/not getting it for myself and giving/not giving the vaccination to my child. I can't handle all of the contradicting information.

I was talking to my endo when I took my kids in and he was talking about how important it was for pregnant women to get vaccinated. I would like to get vaccinated myself, but it hasn't been available here yet.
