Not sure if this is a good idea or not, but I barely make any cm and have a hard time telling checking internally sometimes. Well, anyhow I used Instead cups last cycle and I remembered practicing putting one in and I had left it there a few minutes and then took it out because I wanted to make sure I could do it before I tried to use it after bding. Anyhow, when I had did that I pulled it out and there was cm in it and it just was all collected there for me to look at. So, this cycle I thought hmm, I am going to try this and see if it helps me identify my cm better. I don't know if this is a good idea or not, but I had a bunch of Instead cups and I have just been putting one in for a little while 20 minutes or so and letting my cm collect and then checking it once a day. I've found it quite fascinating that I do actually have good stuff up there.

Pretty cool! We all learned something today! Ive never used these before, but sounds like you have made a multi-purpose tool here for women who have a hard time determing their cm consistency and quantity

Great tip Teresa. I added it to our charting school FAQ.

Never have used those, still get confused with the whole identifying CM & what that means. I do notice though usually about 2 days where it is pretty unique in that its stretchy (not just "wet). Is that most likely my prime BD days prior to O happening ?????

Teresa that's a great find! I didn't know that only 20 minutes would be enough to collect, good to know
I love your new siggy by the way

Thanks!
I left it in for an hour today and I think that was more effective. I had lots of EWCM up there today! Yesterday's was creamy and I don't think I'd have seen any of it had I not collected it. I am really excited. It was definitely egg white!

Shalyn, I'm in the same boat as you with the CM. I just don't feel like I am seeing much or it all seems almost the same.
Teresa, is it hard to put them in? I am really interested in this idea but am scared to put anything up there.. I have never really tried to put anything there before, I haven't even used those tampons without the aplicator. So how do you put them in if you don't mind me asking? lol...

I got them at Walgreens and you just slide them up. It really isn't hard. I'm not sure honestly if this is the best idea, but figured it was working for me so I might as well share it with somebody. The thing is I only use it once a day because even though they aren't that much money it'd be a little pricey to be using them more than once a day.

Awesome, I may definately give that a shot. For the ladies that use them after they BD, how long do you leave them in? Like we BD right before we go to sleep, is it safe to have that in until I get up in the morning? Oh maybe never mind, that may interfere with vaginally temping first thing in the morning, huh? Or how far up do the instead cups go in?

Angel, you would be safe to use the Instead cups overnight. They are meant to replace tampons and maxipads during AF. It should have no affect whatsoever on your temp, it will only mean that you'll be drier than normal because the CM wouldn't have come down your vaginal canal.
And I don't think it would be a good idea to leave them in for an extended period of time every single day, but for an hour you should be good! I think this is a great idea and may try it myself. If there is some reason why you think this could be bad, please share so that I can weigh all sides!

Hi Michelle, I agree that it probably wouldn't directly affect the temp but I didnt know how far the cup goes in so I wasnt sure if there would be room, I guess, in there for the thermometer... lol.. However ditzy that sounds! I mean, I know the probe doesnt go that far in but I didnt know where the cup sits at in there..... Oh boy, ok done sounding silly now. Hehe, thanks!

Oh I'm sorry I forgot to answer that part. The cup basically cups your cervix. It should not interfere with temping because you don't need to put the thermometer that far in.

Interesting idea, Teresa!!!! I don't think I need them for checking my CM but I have considered using them after BDing. We'll see! I think I will wait this cycle but then try it next!!!

Thanks for the info on this page. I am not sure how to check for CM...do you just swipe with your fingers? Check the toilet paper after wiping?? My hubby would be so grossed out if he knew about this stuff.
