Well they did the dye test on my tubes. That was a horrible pain. But I did get some good and bad news. My OB thought that my tubes may be blocked still and the tubal reversal didn’t work. My left tube is open and clear and my right tube is boinked up pretty bad. Blocked. Nada. So here’s to hoping I O on my left side from now on. It only takes 1 tube so that is good news.
I have to go back to the OB to discuss all the options. Clomid, etc.
So for you all out there with only 1 working tube… what do you recommend?

I don't have any words of wisdom since I don't have any experience with blocked tubes, but I just wanted to say that I'm glad you got some answers. I hope that you O from your left side now! Good luck, hun!

Glad to hear that you've got at least one tube that's good and clear.

Patty is our resident One Tube Wonder. She can probably give you some reassurances.

I only have my right tube. I had an ectopic & lost my left before I had DS. We are on cycle #5 & my Dr wants us to try for another few months before we consider Clomid. We conceived DS with 1 tube, so my Dr wants us to try before we go onto meds. I'm not really gung-ho about the increased risk of multiples with Clomid, so we'll keep TTC. I think if I'm not preggo by my next b-day (I'll be 30 ) we'll try Clomid.

I couldn’t imagine.. I have 4 kids in my house under 7 (two 6 year olds, a 4 year old and a 3 year old). I’m not sure I could do twins

I wish I knew more for you Krista. I am just getting started down this road myself. How long has it been since your TR? How many cycles have you been ttc?

I think Clomid is one thing your doctor can do to make sure you ovulate on your good side but I am not sure what else.

I only had my tubal reversal done in July. So Im have not been trying for that long. This is my 4th cycle.
Clomid was one of the things that has been dicussed, but I dont think it is going to happen this early. He did say that saving the tube is possible, but that would require more surgery, My right tube is pretty mangled. So no guarantee.
I'm thinking I have a long road ahead. Atleast I have some answers. Some woman don't have a reason for their infertility, So I am very lucky in that respect.
So Patty.... Arent you a lefty too?

I hope you don't mind this question but did you look into IVF before you did the reversal? I am curious about your right tube. How did it look before you did the reversal? Was the mangling from the ligation or did you have problems with that tube to begin with?

I am a lefty too. I do think you can get pregnant with just one tube. I have seen lots of girls that have on JM so I know you can. I think it depends on the condition of your good tube.

How long does your doc want you to ttc on your own before he sees you again?

You only need one open tube to conceive. The difference is that you can't know in any given cycle which side you'll ovulate on. Both ovaries get stimulated and are full of little follicles ready to be selected as THE ONE. We don't really know the biological mechanism that decides which follicle gets picked at the moment of ovulation yet. If a follicle on the left gets picked, then you have a chance for conception! If a follicle on the right gets picked, you don't have a chance that cycle. So that simply means it may just take a little longer than the average woman, because the cycles when you ovulate on the right will be infertile.

You seem to be ovulating just fine, so I'm not sure why consider Clomid? That's appropriate for those who aren't ovulating, but your charts look good.

Healthy couples with average fertility can take up to 6-12 months to conceive. Rather than rush drugs and procedures which are also hard on your reproductive system (like Clomid, surgery) - I would give it a little more time. Your body is still recovering from the tubal and approximately half your cycles will be infertile because of the blocked tube.

The good news is you don't need both tubes to conceive! All you need is one! The bad news is you may have to be patient and give your body some time for this.

Thanks for the info shawna. I appreciate it.
Yes we looked into IVF and it didnt seem like the better option.
My right tube was fine before the ligation although i was told they removed my right ovary when i was pregnant with Tahnee, when they removed a 12CM cyct. (well obviously they didnt. )
When they did the ligation they removed more tube from my right... not sure why. When they did the reversal the scarring was alot worse and therefore blocked the tube. It was evidently pretty scarred and mangled.
Im not going to be trying clomid, whether my doc wants me to or not. I have the feeling that i need to try naturally for a while before i take such drastic measures like fertility drugs.
The doc said the clomid would produce more follicles and therefore almost guarentee i ovulate from the left. But ive only had my tubes untied for 4 cycles why the rush kwim?
