My doctor called me last night. She reviewed my day 7 ultrasound, and it seems that I have polycysitc ovaries. I do not have PCOS, as I do not fit the syndrome, and my doctor says it is mild. I do ovulate on my own, but i make so many follicles that a dominant one isn't chosen till late in the cycle. My doctor thinks that when i do ovulate, the eggs are not quite mature, which would cause my low luteal phase progesterone (my last draw was only 5.4).
Becaues i have a mild case, she is encouaging me to continue to try naturally. She did say however that I may need clomid. Hubby and I are undecided at the moment.
I'm just glad to finally know what's going on.

I think it is great to have some answers. I think the Clomid might really help. It is a $13 prescription and might be all it takes. I have read up on this myself because I have taken progesterone supplements too and it is supposed to help make your ovulation stronger and improve your progesterone levels. I really think it is something you should consider trying.
I hope I am not being too pushy. I just want to see you pregnant! I know how long you have been trying.
I have missed seeing you over here. I keep checking on you over on the medical assistance board. I really hope you have some great news soon. We miss you over here.

thanks patty! I've missed everyone too. Life has just been really busy, i havn't had much time to spend on just mommies. Then when I finally peak in, there are SOOOOO many posts, i could never catch up. I am sooo glad to see this board so active though.
We want to try clomid, but planned a big anniversary vacation in january. We planned it thinking "not like we're gonna be pregnant anyway". Dh wants me to enjoy the trip to it's fullest, so we might hold off clomid till after the trip. If I can wait that long.
I think my doctor is nervous to push it on me because I'm only 22, and she doesn't want to overburden me with twins. (I think she's not used to helping younger women TTC)

I think you should just ask for it. I don't think the risk of twins is that high from taking Clomid. Gals on JM take it all the time and you don't see that many of them with twins. I understand being nervous but I think it is such an easy fix that you should just try it.
I don't think it is a bad idea to wait till January but if you are ready to try now I would just call your doc and ask for the script.

I'm glad that your doc was able to find out what's going on and is offering you help for it! Mind if I ask what kind of trip you guys have planned?
And think about this, if you decide to wait until after your trip at least you will have a lot going on in the meanwhile to keep you busy. It's the start of the holiday season!

That's awesome! Have you taken a cruise before? I took one that went from New Orleans, to Mexico, Grand Cayman and Montego Bay, Jamaica! It was AWESOME! (Be careful though and listen to what the cruise ship people tell you, especially about where not to go and how to handle situations with the locals. If you do that, you'll have a blast!)

Ohh, we were supposed to take an Alaskan cruise for our Honeymoon this past June (We got married just days before the cruise season ended), but we bought our house instead. LOL
Anyway, back on topic...what are the odds you'll be able to wait until after your trip to start Clomid?
