If you don't eat at the table regularly do you want to change that? Do you think that is important for families to do? Will you change this habit if you have a baby or will you want to?
We are terrible about eating at the table. We all tend to eat in front of the tv or on the couch or some place other than the table. I think this is something that is good for families but yet I can't seem to do it.
Of course, I can't seem to cook dinner have the time either. I think I need to work on the making dinner first and then maybe work on eating at the table.

We never eat at the table either, unless we have people over for dinner. We always watch TV or a movie while we are eating. I think it would be better if we ate at the table though. Not sure when/if that will happen!

DF and I always eat dinner at the table. It's something we'll always do, even when the kids come. We also have the no tv in the bedroom rule.

We eat dinner at the table as a family. There is an occasional time where DH and I eat in the living room because the boys have already eaten.

DH and I rarely ate at the table before Jeremy was born...we ate in the living room. In fact, for the first few months after he was born we didn't eat at the table either. Not that J is in a highchair, we almost always eat at the table together. We still often have the tv on though.

We always eat at the table. DH and I did before we had kids too. Usually all day long we're running in 10 different directions. Dinner is the one time we are all together and not distracted by other things (computers, tv, home work, phone calls, etc.)
This thread got me thinking. I was trying to remember the last time I ate supper in front of the tv. It was Valentine's Day 08, after my last home birth. LOL I went into labour mid afternoon and had him at 8pm. It was about 10pm by the time I had my supper, on the couch watching tv.

That's awesome Shawna!
We are not so good at eating at the table. When we both have the evening off, and make an actual meal, we will eat at the table. Most of the time, I'm running to work, and DH is running to school, so we eat wherever we happen to be. I'm usually eating, watching the news, and checking JM all at the same time.
When we have children, we would like to have dinner at the table every night.

If I cook dinner we always have it at the table. If we have pizza we usually eat in the living room, but most of the time we eat at the table.

When we are all home, we eat together at the table. Lately DH has been working out of town so I sometimes let the girls eat at the coffee table in the living room. But we still eat at the table some nights too.
I think it is a very good thing for families to do together.

Yes, we almost always eat at the table. It was something we wanted to do when we had our first child. I do think it's important to sit at the table as a family. We didn't start doing it regularly though until Seamus was old enough to regularly eat at the table.
We occasionally eat at our computers or in front of the TV (especially if we ordered food instead of made it), but we almost always eat dinner at the table. I think it gets my son into good habits. Not sure how it's going to go after Rhiannon gets here though. So we'll have to wait and see.
Though, like someone else mentioned... even though we eat at the table, we often have the TV on in the background (especially if Cash Cab is on).

We eat at the table every night. This is something that is important to me. I was raised that way, we always ate at the table and talked about our day or whatever. I think it's very important for families to have that bit of time together, especially considering how scattered and busy most people are today.
I'm glad it's a habit we already have in place even before the kids are here.
