Hi all! I called my doctors office and had the on call doc call, but am not very confident in what she's saying. (Especially since it was obvious that I woke her up.)

I was prescribed 10 days of Provera because of a REALLY long cycle (and each cycle getting longer) and have taken it for 2 days. I'm not bleeding yet but woke up this morning to a pretty high temperature. The on call nurse/doctor said to go ahead and take today's dose (I am supposed to take it at 12:45 this afternoon) and to call into the office tomorrow to ask them what to do. (??? Um, shouldn't the on call nurse/doctor know what I should do???)

So anyway, I was hoping to get some info from you girls. Anyone have any experience with this? I don't want to take a chance on something happening if we have a chance at getting pregnant this month! The link to my FF chart is in my siggie, but I must admit that I haven't been putting much on it lately as life has not cooperated with me enough to do so. Thanks in advance for any help yall can give!!

I think that the provera could be what is making your temp go up. Provera is derived from progesterone. I have not taken it before but I have taken prometrium and it is artificial progesterone. It always made my temp much higher.

I think this is how it is supposed to work to trigger AF to start. I am going to do some reading though because I don't want to be telling you wrong. You may want to go ask the girls on the TTC with PCOS board as well.

I have done some reading via Dr. Google. I think the increase you are seeing is because of the provera. I would keep taking it. I think this is what you need to get AF started.

Do some searches for provera and bbt charts or provera and temp rise. I think that might make you feel better.

Thank you, Patty! I was reading the drug info, side effects, etc. and wasn't finding anything about a temperature rise, so that's why I was so unsure. I didn't even think to search for both Provera and BBT.

I feel much better now, knowing that it can raise my temperature!! I will call the doctors office tomorrow as she said, just in case, but at least now I won't be stressed over taking this next dose.

Well I was worried about you. They don't put BBT info in the patient inserts. I just remember the prometrium always made my temp rise higher. I think they also use prometrium like they do provera to bring on AF. I think that this increase and then decrease in progesterone is what kick starts AF.

I would still call your doctor but the fact that your temp went up right after you took it seems to me that it was most likely from the provera.

I agree with Patty. I think the temp rise is from the provera and that is a good thing! That means it's doing it's job and working! Hopefully AF will be here soon and you can move on to a good cycle!

Ok, here's another question for you (because I haven't found this one anywhere)...can Provera give you darker OPKs? I didn't test yesterday but the one I did a little while ago is definitely darker than the ones I've been getting...but it's still not positive.
