So, I know that normally they tell you that it can take up to a year to pg and to not call the dr before then. Just wondering what the ruling is on calling the dr when you are ttc #2 or more. I just had some spotting this morning, so that means that we'll be on to month 8 of ttc. It didn't take this long with DD, and it's just getting frustrating. I am on thyroid medicine because they do know that my thyroid numbers were too low to get pg. I just had my levels retested, and those numbers look good with the medicine I'm taking. I don't want to seem like a pain to them, but I just don't know when I should be calling them again to see if everything else is okay.

I guess I'm just venting more than anything. I was just really hoping that since my thyroid numbers were leveling off, that this would be our cycle (plus my chart gave me false hopes at 9DPO). I guess that I'm also worried that my lp's aren't long enough. Last cycle I started on 10 DPO and now I'm spotting on 11 dpo. Do you think that I have valid concerns to call the dr or should I just wait it out.

Thanks for listening.

I didn't have trouble with TTC#2 (I did need fertility treatments to TTC#1) but my friend did and her doctor told her the same rule applies - 1 year. I don't know if that is true for every doctor but that is her doctor's rule.

We're ttc #2 and on cycle 9 right now. I went to the doctor back in September and just had my first appointment with a fertility doctor this past week. I have concerns about being able to get pregnant and that's what I told them. Maybe call and tell them the same? That you have concerns especially since you have the thyroid issue. Otherwise yeah the year guideline is in effect until 30 or 35 years of age.

I don't think it will hurt to call your doctor but a lot of doctors do make you wait a full year. I also know that perfectly healthy couples can take up to a year to get pregnant and it doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong. I have watched a lot of gals get pregnant right when they got close to the one year mark so hopefully you will get your bfp soon!

I think with you having a thyroid condition that could put you at higher risk for having problems and you may want to go ahead and see if they will talk to you now. It can't hurt to call.

i think it depends on your doctor. i called my doctor after TTC for 5-6 months without seccess. he was glad i called and so was i bec. we both wanted to be proactive. many people have trouble conceiving #2... even if #1 didnt need any intervention or didnt take too long. i think if you call you doctor then you can at least get an answer as to what his plan would be and he might wanna know more from your end.
good luck, i say call.

I think that I may try to call just to see what they say. Having DD completely threw my body out of whack. I've never had any medical issues and since having her, my body is definitely not the same. Hopefully I can get some answers or my body straightens out soon

It can't hurt to call, but they may not want to do anything until you hit the 1 year mark. It's worth trying though.
