So... I'm back from my appointment. Forgive me as I inhale my bowl of Cap'n Crunch w/ Crunch Berries as I type this... but I'm STARVIN'!!! This might be kinda long...
So... Met with the NP, Maureen, and we sat and talked for a while first. She asked me some basic health history questions and then we got into the TTC stuff. Asking how long we'd be trying, am I using OPKs, blah de blah. I told her about my charting and all. I told her about the spotting the past 2-3 months. I told her about how I noticed fluid leaking from my nipples when I did a breast exam & I told her about how my skin has broken out really badly the past 2-3 months too.
Then she moved me to the exam room for my annual & my pap. She listened to my lungs and heart, did a breast exam and saw the fluid for herself. Then it was Pap & Pelvic exam time. I have to say... she was very good. I know I mentioned my anxiety about these sorts of visits before, but it went so smoothly that I was really surprised. I barely felt anything.
So, she said my cervix looked just fine. She actually asked for my charts, looked over them and said "Everything looks very normal. Your temps are going up so you certainly look ovulatory." She actually took them and made copies to put in my file!!!

And here I was, worried they would tell me I'm a freak. She did say how some people find it too stressful and all, I told her I'd be more stressed if I didn't do it.
She asked if I was seeing a surge on my OPKs and I showed her my OPKs from the past 3 cycles. I actually taped them all in a row and taped them on the first page for each month of my Fertility Journal. So she was able to see them for herself too. She said they looked normal and my surge seemed to be coming at the right time for the length of my cycles.
She then presented the options.
Option 1: She could refer me to an RE straight away and they could take things from there.
Option 2: They could take care of my work up and if I still don't become pregnant, then we can go to the RE.
I chose Option 2. Mainly because I wasn't sure if our insurance covered infertility stuff and I knew for sure they covered OB visits and such.
So, she wrote me a script for an S/A for Danny YAY!!! And for me, a pelvic u/s & b/w. She said if I could get the b/w done tomorrow that'd be fab because I'd be on CD 21 and they could really tell for sure that I've O'd.
I'm to come back on Dec. 7th at 11:30. She wants me to meet with one of the actual doctors and see where we are. She said they may decide to put me on Clomid or they may want to do an HSG.
So, I've got an appointment today at 3:30 for the pelvic ultrasound. I have to come in with a full bladder, so I've gotta drink 32 oz of water beginning at 2:00 and finishing by 2:30.
I've got an appointment tomorrow at 10:15 for all of my b/w. This is what she is having tested:
Fasting Glucose
Insulin
DHEAS
FSH
LH
Progesterone
Prolactin
Total Testosterone
TSH
Estradiol
I asked her about how long I should expect to wait for the results and she said they are really quick and that we should have them within a few days. So YAY for that!! She did say she's hoping we're pregnant this month, then we don't have to worry about all of that.
So that was my appointment. Everyone there was super nice and I was really pleased with the whole experience.
