Good morning (although it's still dark outside as I'm writing this!)!

I'm new to temping, and I've notice a couple of things...

1. My temp came out the same two days in a row -- is this normal?

2. Which is preferable -- taking your temp a half hour early because you naturally woke up or lying in bed until the scheduled time and then taking it?

3. What's considered a high temp for the pre-O phase? If you have high temps, is it a bad thing?

Thanks in advance! Have a wonderful day!!

Welcome to the BBT charting train.

I'm not exactly the best person to answer this but I'll give it a shot:

1) It can happen, and 1 temp being exactly the same doesn't bring too much worry... But it could be your thermometer. I hear the walgreens one in particular gives similar temperatures over and over and must be avoided like the plague. XD So basically, it could happen, but it's usually unlikely.

2) I think it'd be best to take down the one where you woke up 30 minutes early as it prefers you to take your temp after at least 3 hours of sleep. 30 minutes won't make much of a difference in temp, I don't think. But if you stayed awake for 30 minutes while waiting to temp, it might give you a very different result.

3) It varies for person to person. I actually have fairly low pre-O bbts (96.5-97) in this board whereas some people have an average that's much higher. High temps isn't really a bad thing unless they make it hard to distinguish between pre and post temps.

I hope I explained some things to you. If ever I'm wrong about what I say, I'm sure the other girls here will clarify them better for you and correct me. Happy charting.

Welcome.

I was actually going to say just about everything she just said.

Happy Charting!

I mostly agree with everything she said, also... Having the same temps can easily happen but yeah the Walgreen's BBT can be a big culprit of that.

Also, I would just take the temp the 30 minutes early. I have always heard taking your temp within an hour of your normal time should be ok. Just laying there awake but not moving for the last half hour, I am not sure if that would affect a temp but if it did I can't see it being by much at all... I would kinda be curious about that myself so hopefully someone else who has been doing it longer could answer that.

And high post O temps can be totally normal from what I've seen. I have seen ladies with way low temps and way high. I have never had a personal temp be in the 96's before even though thats a norm for a lot of women. My temps normally can get up to 97.9 before I O.

Good luck!!!

Great answers. I totally agree. The Walgreens thermometer has a bad rap for giving the same temp over and over. If you aren't using a Walgreens thermometer I wouldn't worry about it. Flat temps aren't a bad sign. I have actually heard some girls say that their doctors said it was a good sign that your hormones were more stable.

I agree with using the first time. Lying awake can make your temp inacurrate and your first waking temp would probably be the most accurate. Thirty minutes won't make a big difference in your chart.

What are your pre o temps looking like so far?

Thanks once again ladies! If I wake up before the alarm tomorrow, I'll just take my temp (of course, I hope I don't wake up too early!). I bought a Target-brand BBT thermometer -- I'm a Target girl, through-and-through.

So far I've recorded three temps: 97.33, 97.58, 97.58. I wasn't sure if those were high or not. And dare I say, I'm actually excited to see what tomorrow's temperature will be!
