I am so excited about the possibility. I am not for sure when my edd will be but if it is based on my lmp it will be August 19. Guess who else was due on August 19th? My son Brandon! It is so weird. He ended up being born early on July 4th. I was excited about him being due in August because my bday is in August too. I am hoping if I get pregnant this time that my baby is born in August and not July!
I like the summer so I would much rather be due in the summer than the winter, especially around here. I really don't want to be having to drive to the hospital in labor in the middle of a snow storm. Not that we couldn't handle it if need be but summer will be nice.
I love the idea! I already have one summer baby. Keagan was due July 6th, but was born on June 15th. I was a little bummed he didn't wait until my b-day, July 3rd, lol. But, anytime my body decides to get pregnant, whenever I'm due is fine with me! When we first started TTC, the point was to avoid being pregnant in the summer. But now I really don't care. I just want a baby at this point!
I think I would love to have a summer baby, but I worry about being heavily pg in the summer because of the heat. I don't do well when it's hot and muggy, much prefer the cold, snowy icy winters But I'll take a baby at any time
I love the idea of having a summer baby but it's more about me wanting to be pregnant in the summer. I would love to have a baby born at the end of summer when kids are just going back to school because that makes the birthday party planning a bit easier for the school years. Back when we decided we wanted to start trying for #2 we put it off for about 4 months because we wanted that summer baby.

Upside to summer baby: As a teacher, I'll have my summer off, so no maternity leave! If I didn't deliver until the end of summer, I wouldn't have to worry about 3rd trimester summertime maternity clothes -- hubby's t-shirts and baggy shorts will work for me!! And DH is a teacher too, so he'll be home with me to take care of the little one.
Downside to summer baby: Late summer due date will mean that I'll miss the beginning of the school year -- my students will start the year with one teacher and then I'll have to replace him/her. Also, baby will be right at the cut-off date for school enrollment. Oh, and having to shave my legs on a regular basis (because it's summer) while in my 3rd trimester -- guessing that's not fun!
At this rate I will definitely take a baby whenever, but in TX it is 100+ in July/August so i am not looking forward to that, but if i get pregnant soon, i'm gonna have to deal with summer regardless...

Ditto to all of that except that my DH is not a teacher.

This is why being around pools and lakes is a good thing. We get 40c+ (something like 104+ in Fahrenheit) in the summer but I can just spend the days at the lake. Do you have anything around that would keep the heat from getting to you?

I'm not real thrilled about the idea of as summer baby. I thought about holding off a few more months, but we have been trying for awhile now and really want to kids to be as close in age as we can at this point. My DH is a wildland firefighter so he is gone a lot in the summer. Not the best time for babies and birthdays.

I love the idea of a summer baby! My birthday is at the end of March and I always wanted to have pool parties for my birthdays, but it was always still too cold. Yes, it does get very hot here (as Kate said, 100+ temps), but I'll take that for a bit if it means a summer birthday!
For the record...I'll take a baby WHENEVER the season! Patricia, we have lakes and such around here (I live about an hour from Kate), but you really don't want to be in any of them as there are a lot of problems with parasites in this area.
We're not the kind of couple that can say, "Let's have a baby in the summer (or whatever season/month)" and end up with a baby in the summer. We learned that with DS. I never would have "chosen" to have a baby in January ( it was 24 degrees below zero on the way to the hospital!), but that's how it worked out and it was perfect in the end.
Having said that, I'd love to have a summer baby! Summer maternity clothes are way cuter, birthday would be farther away from Christmas...lots of reasons. The downside would be that I do alot of gardening/canning and having a new baby in August wouldn't work out the best with all of that. But I'd take the baby and skip the canning
Actually not really, If I am due this month I will most likely have a July baby which means that I would have to miss the first month or so of school and go into a crazy situation. I hate knowing that I would have to leave my eight week old in day care just to go into school and thow my student off for weeks , if not the whole year
We will be thankful for a baby anytime, but if I could choose I would choose another March or April baby.
If I was blessed enough not to have to work I wouldn't have any prefrence.
I think a summer baby would be lovely! I agree that summer maternity clothes are very cute!! I wouldn't mind being big and pregnant at a time of year when my belly can actually get some sunshine!!
I actually prefer winter time.. Not the raining but I love the cold and snow.. I love bundling up and I figured I'd be fat and sweaty and miserable in the summer if I was due around then... But as others have said, I'll take one ANYTIME, regardless of fat or sweatiness!!
