I got a smiley face last night at 6pm and this morning my temp shot up, is it possible that I would have ovulated that soon after the lh surge?

I think the surge is usually 12-36 hours before you O so I think that is possible.

yes this is why not everyone trusts OPKs, because some women will get a positive the day of ovulation.

I didn't expect my temp to shoot up so much, I thought it said 97.45 but when I was more awake and looked to see 97.95, I was like OH MY!!! I had a negative opk on monday so ovulation must have occured nearly a few hours after the positive, that or maybe I caught the tail end of it? I tested at 8am with fmu (i know your not supposed to, but I have an addiction ) and it was negative. Could it be that I just have a short surge?

Okay... first, yes... it is possible for you to O the day after a + OPK. Happens to me all the time.

Second, your + OPK was probably detecting your surge on it's way down, which is also totally normal.

I usually don't ovulate the same day as I detect my surge but I have had it happen a few times so it is possible. It looks like your temp went back down and you had another positive opk. I would try to get busy today. I do think you may have already ovulated but I would just try to cover your bases just in case.
