I'm just curious if there was a clear-cut way to knowing whether you have or have not O-ed during your cycle.

I was looking through some examples in FF and I came across some charts. This one in particular baffled me:

Fertility Friend OnLine Chart Gallery

FF classified it as Anovulatory but I swear I can see a temp shift following CD 16. Anovulatory phases are supposedly classified as cycles where ovulation does not happen and there is no clear temp shift to determine whether or not a girl has O-ed. In this case, however, I see a positive OPK, and a temperature shift.

Could it be that FF misclassified this or am I missing something. Just curious.

FF misinterpreted that. It's famous for misinterpretations.

Oh dear. So how can you tell if you have, or have not been misinterpreted? Have charting buddies, share and collect?

Oh wow. Is it last cycle you're referring to? Maybe it placed it there because of the positive OPK. But then again, you've got positives in two places. Yeah. Now I'm confused.

The best way to catch misinterpretations is to learn to interpret your chart on your own. You can do that by reading a book, taking a class (online or in person), or just by picking up bits and pieces of info here as you go along. Learning from a teacher is the fastest way (takes about an hour), reading a book is the second fastest way (depending on how fast you read), and picking it up as you go along is the longest way to learn.

I agree. It looks ovulatory to me. But, you also have to keep in mind the chart gallery is member submitted. It is possible the member overrode her chart or something. FF does make mistakes a lot but all in all I think it is pretty good. I often have to switch my analysis method to the fertility awareness method to get it right.

It sounds like you have a pretty good idea on what you are doing with interpreting charts so go with your own instincts if you ever question FF. Or come post over here. We have a lot of girls on JM that have been doing this a while.

Yup, my current cycle... I'm not sure why it's there, but I know I didn't O then. If I get 3 high temps now it will change my CH's, but to give me them in the first place was just crazy!

And what Patty said is right too, when you submit your chart to the gallery, you put in the taglines yourself and can override FF. If AF had come and those CH's stayed where they were, I would have removed them for reference purposes for myself.
