Hi! I have never posted here but lurk a lot. I hope it is okay to ask a quick question. First, my name is Lindsay and am mom to 2. Been TTC a couple of months, but religiously did OPk's and finally figured my cycle out a little bit more.

So, I got my first + OPK on the 28th, but continued to get a + for the next 2 days. So, did I ovulate for 3 days? How many days past ovulation would that make me? Do you go from the first day or last? Just a little stumped on this one.

The ovulation test doesn't tell you when you ovulate. It just tells you when you have your LH surge. It is quite common to get two or three days worth of positives. When you get a positive opk you typically ovulate one or two days after but it could be as late as 3 days after. Are you sure the first positive was a positive? Was the test line at least as dark as the control line? If so I would consider that most likely the start of your surge.

Here is one of my charts where I had three positive opks.


You only ovulate on one day out of the month. You wouldn't have ovulated for three days but it is hard to say for sure what day you ovulated on if you weren't charting. I would give yourself a three day window starting from the day of the first opk.

Also, were you paying attention to your cervical mucous? The last day that you noticed slippery cm would be your most likely o date. You normally dry up shortly after you ovulate.

Thank you so much for responding to this! Yes, the line was darker than the control on all 3 days. That is why I was thrown off. When I charted a few years back, I stopped after I got that surge, so I hadn't ever seen 3 days of it. B/c of lurking here, I knew to pay attention to my cm, but it was hard to miss. I would say it was the most intense on the 2nd day I got the surge. We BD all 3 days, so hopefully that was enough.

with Patty. Can't really pinpoint how many days past ovulation you are since you aren't taking your temp. Usually the spike in temp is your sure fire proof, ya know?

I'd say if you bd'ed all during those days when you got the +'s, you should have a good shot.

I would say you most likely o'd on the second day. Of course, that is not a guarantee since you don't chart we don't know for sure but that would be my pick based on your cm.
