How did you decide to start charting? Was it overwhelming at first for you?
I remember being so overwhelmed when I started... I remember refering back to fertilityfriend.com over and over again for many questions I had.

I charted for the last two cycles when TTC our son. I hadn't done it before b/c I didn't totally understand it.... and also I had a hard time accepting the fact that I wasn't fertile myrtle and that I wasn't going to get pregnant without trying really hard (got my BFP on cycle #7). I just charted BBT at that time b/c I was pretty confused about the whole CM thing and never seemed to have really fertile CM anyway.
Started charting this time around when I was in the process of weaning to see when and if I would ovulate. I'm now on my 1st full post partum cycle. I'm trying to chart CM better this time around, although it's still kind of confusing, plus I'm taking mucinex which I'm sure changes it so much that it's hard to tell what it really is like anyway.

when TTC #1 i started charting bec. i wasnt getting pg as fast as i thought i would.. but i wasnt that into it back then, now im charting while TTC#2 bec. again its taking a long time, also bec. im taking clomid and wanted to know how it was affecting me, and also bec. i had a m/c... it was hard at first bec. you have to really get the temp taking into your routine, but once you do it becomes just another thing i do every morning like brush my teeth..

Well I started charting because we knew we wanted to conceive, but I'd been on BCP for quite some time. I had learned by that time that a temp spike corresponded with O and so I was hoping that by charting, we could get pregnant faster by timing BD well.
Sadly, I've since learned two things. Well timed BD doesn't mean squat a lot of times and also that there is a new way of thinking these days regarding that temp spike. It used to be that when your temp rose, THAT was when you BD'd. However now it is said that the temp spike happens AFTER O. So I continue to chart just to know when/if O happens in hopes of seeing a pattern (eventually) develop. I also like having a place to put all of my information together. FF is definitely a charters BFF!
I still don't chart CM and CP very often, but that's more of a habit thing than anything. I'm not in the habit of it and will go days, sometimes weeks without checking. And although I had a lot of questions when I first started charting, I managed to find JM shortly thereafter and was provided answers to whatever questions I had.

When we were TTC DS, I only used OPKs. It only took us one cycle to conceive him, but if it had taken longer, I was planning on starting charting. I never even knew that charting existed until coming to JM! I signed up for the lessons on FF, and only read a few. I've learned mostly everything I know about charting from JM and all the wonderful ladies on here! Since we started TTC #2, the first cycle I just used OPKs again and when that wasn't successful, I started charting the next cycle in hopes of getting a better idea of what my body was doing to help us conceive faster. I don't think it was too overwhelming. I actually got into the habit pretty easily. But, I still can't check my CP, I can't seem to reach it.

I wanted to know what my cycles were doing after having DD so we could hopefully get pregnant faster the second time. It worked, took 6 months and 5 cycles with DD and only 1 month and 1 cycle with DS.
It was a little hard at first but I had heard a lot about charting on JM while I was pregnant so I caught on pretty quickly I think.

We're both practicing Catholics, so we learned to chart as part of Natural Family Planning before we were married/sexually active. So my faith was the reason I first knew about it, but the health benefits are equally as beneficial in my opinion. If I decided to stop being Catholic for some reason, I'd still chart for health reasons.

To me it wasn't overwhelming because I only took in a small part of it. LOL. I really didn't complete know what I was doing or understand the whole picture. I just knew that your temp went up after you ovulated. I think if I understood it better I would have been more overwhelmed.

I've only been charting a week and I think it's been so beneficial and such a learning experience! I don't know if we'll end up with a BFP this first time around, but at least I'm getting the hang of this whole charting thing and learning more about my body..

I just started charting....this is only our second month ttc #2, however I'm very impatient and there are so many reason why I would like/need to have a 2010 baby rather then any later. I figured charting will only help me increase our chances of getting a bfp sooner then later
Having said that......charting is very overwhelming for me.
