Hello ladies I've never posted on this forum before but I hope you don't mind me popping in to ask a question.

DH and I have been TTC for about 11 months and I'm usually an active poster in TTC #1 and TTC and I've read bunches of books and articles and so on and I've been charting and temping. I've read how changes in sleep time, when you wake up (when you temp), sickness and so on can affect your temp. Well I kind of just blew it off a bit until I found this site for an online BBT adjuster and found out just how much your temp can be off when you temp at a different time.

My predicament is that I have a very odd schedule. I work in law enforcement so I work 12 hours shifts and we are on a 2 week schedule like this Friday: off Saturday: off Sunday: off Monday: work Tues: work Wed: off Thurs: off Fri: work Saturday: work Sunday: work Monday: off Tues: off Wed: work Thurs: work and then back to the Fri, Sat, Sun being off. We rotate each month from days to nights, so this month I work 18:00-06:00 (6PM-6AM). So I have no idea when I should be temping. I don't mind temping at a certain time when I'm off but right now I sleep until about 2:00PM when I'm working but when I'm off I may not sleep that late.

I don't know if that makes much sense but I'm going to see my OB in January for MA and I want to have my charts for her and I've been worried about my temp.

Can anyone give me some advice? Thank you so much!

Here is what FF friend says:

Fertility Friend Handbook - Fertility Charting For Pregnancy Achievement

Basically take it when you wake up, even if that is in the afternoon and just make a note in your chart. I'll be interested to see your chart.

Brandie, nice to see you over here!

I work shift work too, but not as difficult as your hours, since some of nights only go to midnight, and only 4 out of my nights a month really effect my temp... not bad but they usually seem to happen around O time when I need them to be accurate!

For me, no matter if I'm working or not, I set my alarm for 6am every day and temp, if I don't have to get up I just go right back to sleep. On the nights I don't get home until 5am, or to sleep until after my temp time, I just go to bed, wake up whenever and temp and mark my temp at the different time.

It's good that you use other signs along with your temps, it def helps!
