I woke up this morning at 3 am. I figured I'd take my temp and go back to sleep -- I did. The alarm went off at 4:55 am -- which is my normal temp time. I took my temp again.

3 am temp: 97.86

4:55 am temp: 97.73

If I use the 3 am temp, it's at the wrong time.

If I use the 4:55 am temp, it won't reflect 3 solid hours of sleep.

If I plug the 3 am temp into the temp corrector, it adjusts it to 98.24 -- a definite rise in my chart.

If I plug both temps into the temp corrector, it adjust it to 97.99 -- a slight dip in my chart.

I'm 12 DPO, so I think it matters -- I'm trying to see if my temps are stable/rising or if they're dropping off because AF is on her way.

So ladies, which temp should I use?

I don't think it matters which one you use since they are all above your cover line. Since your 3am one was so high, I would personally go with the corrected temp from that then mark it sleep deprived so you get the open circle. So when are you going to test??

Before I answer I have two questions for you. What woke you up? And did you get up to go pee or anything when you woke at 3?

Because if you woke up from a bad dream or something, the higher temp could have been from stress or anxiety over the dream. And if you got out of bed for something, drank water or anything like that, it would have caused your temp to drop and it wouldn't have had time to level back off before temping again.

I just woke up -- no bad dream, no trip to the bathroom, I wasn't overly hot or overly cold, I simply woke up. (Truthfully, I have been nervous about these last couple of temps since I had the dip at 10 DPO -- the nervousness/anxiety of taking the temp may have woken me up). I took the temp and then fell back asleep and didn't wake up again until the alarm went off.

I definitely like forest's reply of going with the higher temp!

LOL, well if you go with that earlier temperature, you really should put in the correct temperature but mark yourself as sleep deprived. And don't forget to add the time difference and second temperature in the notes field in case you need to make any adjustments to your chart later for some reason.

Thanks! And Cara, if my temps stay up I'm going to test on 14DPO (which is two days from now).

Oh, and I ended up recording the temp, but discarding it -- I figured it would be too confusing. It won't be on my chart now.
