Actually, it can help a short LP. Insulin resistance as with PCOS disrupts the follicular phase, so the eggs aren't fully mature or can't rupture or any number of ovulation problems. When the egg is immature or improperly developed at ovulation, that can produce a short LP. When the follicular phase is improved, the quality of ovulation is better, and the LP is longer.
It's also completely normal to have a short LP during the first 6 cycles after you wean. The LP should lengthen a little with each passing cycle until it reaches a healthy length.
