I am sorry that I haven't been here to cheer or analyze or sympathize with you guys today!

I totally meant to log on and let you all know that I had to take my dad for his monthly eye injections today and that I probably wouldn't be on for much of the day. But I wound up getting tied up doing some things around the house and then the next thing I knew, it was time to go!

On the upside, his sight in his right eye is now 20/20!! which is better than it was when he started this experiment. His left eye is not doing as well... it has more scar tissue. But we knew that, so there's only so much that we're really expecting from that eye.

So, now I'm gonna try to get caught up on all the happenings from today!!

Great news for your dad!! We totally understand that you have things to do, no worries if you're gone for a day.

No worries, Nikki...life is pretty hectic for most of us these days! Mind if I ask what's wrong with your dad's eyes? I ask because my mom is losing her vision pretty quickly due to a couple of different issues and I'm always on the lookout for new treatments, etc. I'm glad that the treatment is helping your dad with his vision!

Oh yeah! He has Macular Degeneration. Basically he had like giant black spots like right in front of his field of vision.

He's part of a clinical trial at Will's Eye Hospital where once a month he goes in and they dilate his eyes, scan them and then inject them with medication.

Each eye is on a different medication, and he isn't able to know which is which... hence, clinical trial.

He's been going since about February or March.

My mom has macular degeneration as well and that's what's causing her most of her vision problems. I certainly hope that the treatment that's working becomes something that they can use to treat all patients with it! I really do wish him the best of luck with it and I pray that it continues to work and they are able to fully restore his vision again.
