i usually hang out over on AIP, but since this is a charting question, i figured i'd post it here and there:

this morning when i put my temp in i got a pop-up and FF had changed my ovulation date from cd 14 to cd 22. i'm no expert, but when i look at my chart it still looks like it should have been cd 14 to me. what do you guys think? i know some of you are more experienced at charting/reading charts. opinions appreciated! thanks!

Hmmmm....what has your cm been like? When do you normally O? I would say just going by what I see it looks like CD14 BUT if you normally O later than that, and if youve had fertile cm, it could be CD22. FF has your fertile "window" marked as CD19-22 so im assuming you normally O sometime around then...?

thanks for your response.

i don't know if this tells you anything, but here's a pic of my chart from yesterday, before they changed the o date.

my cycles have been a bit screwy. for about a year my cycles have been about 33 days (so that would make more sense for me to o on cd 22, i guess... if you go by that) but then last month it was 62 long days. sometimes i'll have regular cycles and then they'll go whacky when they're getting ready to change in average length. usually the change isn't big, like a year ago they were like 28 days every month, then i had a 54 day cycle and they started being 33 days after that. so i don't know whether my last cycle of 62 days had an effect on my cycle length or not.

this is my first month of actually charting religiously. last cycle i attempted and then after no ovulation after almost 30 days i gave up and quit charting.

i told dh today when it changed my o date that i guess it's a good thing we bd after i thought i already o'd, anyhow.

oh, also i forgot to add about cm. i don't check my cm because dh and i bd so often that i'm never confident enough to say whether what i'm seeing is ewcm or left over semen. =(

i took a test yesterday (what i thought was 10 dpo) and it was negative, but now i don't even know whether i had ovulated yet.

i guess i would just like as many opinions as i can get, please. thanks, everyone!

Wow, that's a toughie, especially without any CM or OPK's to go by. Your temps look more like you O'd on CD14 to me, but I would see what your next few days temps look like. Keep us posted, it will be interesting to see what happens with your temps/chart!

That is really tough to interpret because there is only so much that temps alone can tell you.

A few things though...

1. If you are having irregular cycles like that... 33 days one month and then 62 the next, you should seriously consider having your doctor test you for PCOS. Irregular cycles is one of the biggest symptoms of PCOS.

2. You really should try to document something about your cm. If you are having a hard time determining which is ewcm and which is semen, you can always use the "Glass of Water" trick. Drop some of the "fluid" into the water. If it dissolves, it was semen. If it forms a ball and sinks, it was ewcm.

3. You could also try checking your cm prior to bd'ing... there has got to be some point of the day when you've got a "clean slate" as it were.

4. 10 DPO can still be fairly early for a HPT. There are lots of postings about BFPs at 9, 10 & 11 DPO... but those are actually considered EARLY positives.

I think it's possible that your body may have geared up to O but didn't actually do it, which may be why your temps were not staying consistently high. Again, I can't really say with any kind of certainty because I have nothing else to corroborate it, like CM or even cervical position... whether it was high, medium, low... soft, medium, firm...

In any event, FF does tend to change it's mind every so often... since you are new to charting and FF has no cycle history for you to go by... the only thing for it, I'm afraid... is time. In a few days things should become much clearer.

I'm not sure if you are TTC or just charting to get familiar with your cycles... but either way, I hope you get the outcome you are seeking!
