So i will be headed to a drastically warmer climate for a week starting Jan. 3rd. Does anyone know how this will effect my charting temps?? do i even bother charting that week? (figures too that i will probably be ovulating that week..)

Hmm. I haven't been able to find anything definitive on this for you. However, I'm wondering if the "change of seasons" rule applies here...

FF did a study and found that BBT temps tend to be a bit higher when the weather turns colder and lower when the weather turns higher. I know, the opposite of what you'd expect, right? Either way, they did say that the difference in temp was not a huge one, but they could see a difference. I am curious if this principle may apply in the case of vacations to warm climes.

As for my personal opinion... if it were me, I would absolutely continue to chart, especially if I knew O was possible during that time!!

I would probably pick a time in the middle of the day while still at home and take my temp. Then I'd take my temp at that same time of day once I'd reached my vacay destination and see how much of a difference there is in those temps.

It may not give you a rock solid scientific formula... but it may at least give you a general idea as to whether your temps are up or down and by how much.

Hmm, thats a really good idea about taking my temp during the day before some time before i leave and again during the day over there to see if there is indeed a huge difference.
Im actually quite curious to see what will happen. it will be difficult to also take my temp at the same time in the am.. i wont be waking up for work, so no more 5:30am temps during that week. my chart will prob. be all over the place when i get back and plug in my numbers.. oh well, guess ill have to just go by my opks and CM.

Thanks for your ideas

I agree with Nikki. I would continue to chart (especially if it's around O time). Even if the temps aren't completely accurate, I would think you'd still see a temp rise to indicate you O'd. Good luck! Have fun on your trip...I'm jealous.
