I just started temping this cycle, and I have a question...Is it normal to have the same temp every morning? I've been setting my alarm and getting up at 6:40 every morning and taking my temp and going back to sleep....Every morning it's been 97.70....I've taken it different times during the day and it's different, so I don't think it's the thermometer....I've just never seen a chart that's just straight across all the same temp....I hope i'm not doing something wrong.

I have seen the odd chart that was weirdly consistent .. what was weirder is that after ovulation their temp went up .2 degrees and again remained weirdly consistent for the majority of post-O temps.

.. my point being .. it happens.

It does happen!

I actually had it happen to me.. all the temps were the same.. even went and bought a new BBT because I thought mine most have been broken. Even with the new BBT the temps stayed the same until I O'd.

Does your bbt have some sort of memory button and you keep looking at a stored temp?

I was about to say the same as the PP ^^, my bbt sucks. I hate it, but never think to get a new one when I hit the grocery store. Anyway, it's suppose to remember the last two temps taken, but it doesn't. It remembers the last temp and the temp before it is always 97.7.

yeah it does, but what I do is take my temp when it's dark and put it away, then I go back and look at the last temp taken....Plus i've been taking it later in the day, just to make sure it's different and it's usually much lower after i've been up, so I dont think it's just from the memory (if that makes sense lol)...I guess i'll just keep doing it and hopefully it will change at some point...thanks for the info

Okay I figured it out ...My BBT is not picking up the last memory, it's just coming up as 97.70 every time, even after I get another reading...So I guess i'll turn the light on in the morning and write it down...i'm on CD 8, is my chart messed up now, or can I just restart temping?

LOL, I looked at your chart and didn't even connect that the temp you were writing down was 97.70, which is what the number that both of my BBTs initially start up with. I don't think your chart is messed up, and I would keep going. It looks like you ovulated last cycle after CD 25, so you still might have at least a couple weeks to record pre-O temps.

I thought that might be what your thermometer might be doing since mine does that too, even though it isn't supposed to. In the past I used BD thermometer and it's worked wonderfully. Again, mine isn't a BD thermom, I hate it, and it takes forever to take a temp. I have fallen back asleep with the dang thing still in my mouth, to wake up 30 min later! LOL

I think it's fine to keep charting, since you most likely haven't O'd yet. I had the same prob. with my 1st thermometer and since I've gotten a new one, I doesn't usually happen. Even with my 1st one I was still able to see the temp shift to indicate I had O'd.

Welcome to the board, btw!

My last cycle was my first cycle since I had my baby (stillborn) in October, so it wasn't normal for me to have such a long cycle and O on CD 25...I usually have 26 day cycles, and O around CD 13, so even if my cycle goes back to normal, hopefully I still have time to get my cart going...Thanks for the info....I'm going to read some more tonight about charting, it's all new to me....I have always kept track of my cycles by chart, but never temping.

Aww crap! I didn't even think of the 97.70 start up number either! That's where my BBT starts too... which seems to be the same for just about everyone.

If your BBT is anything like mine, it probably is storing your temp in memory you just have to hold the button down to access the memory. That's how mine operates.

When you go to power it on, keep the button pressed down and it should show you the last temp taken.

Lemme know if that works for you!

YAY!!!!

You know what? Don't feel stupid... because it took me like... MONTHS to figure that out on mine!!!

When I first bought it I thought "I'm an adult. I know how to work a digital thermometer. You turn it on, stick it in, it beeps, you're done." So I'll have to admit I didn't delve into the little pamphlet that probably came with it.
I'm sure I would've learned that straight away if I had... but there you are.

im glad you got it all figured out. my thermometer keeps 2 temps in the memory, the lowest ever taken and the highest ever taken... stupid thing lol.
I always use my cell phone for the light check the temp on the thermometer and then put the temp in my cell phone then go back to sleep if i want to.
I wouldnt worry about messing up your cycle temps, i would seriously just start fresh, and remove all the temps you have taken.

Thanks again everyone! I removed all the old temps and restarted this morning, and it wasn't 97.70 LOL...I can't wait to take my temp again tomorrow...Who would of thought that it would be fun to set your alarm to wake up early just to take your temp..Once the kids get back to school it shouldn't be so bad since I have to wake up early any way.
