I woke up this morning at 3:30 am , about 50 minutes earlier then I have my alarm set to temp. I went ahead and took my temp at 3:30 it was 97.01. I fell about asleep for about 40 minutes when my alarm went off for my regular temp time. My temp was then 97.20. I used the temp corrector on FF and it gives me a temp of 97.19, which is what I logged this time but I am not sure if I should use that temp or my first temp from 3:30am.

Thanks for any help. This is only my second cycle temping so I am still learning all the in's and out's.

I'm not an expert on temping, but here's what happened to me:

I used the temp adjuster for a pre-O temp. After thinking about it, I went back and logged the actual temp. Turns out, that adjusted temp was played a huge role in FF determining my O date (now granted, the temp was logged RIGHT before I O'd -- maybe if it had been significantly earlier, it wouldn't have mattered). I figured it was better to log the real temp (even if it was at the wrong time) and to log the "adjusted" temp.

This is from FF:
" If you want to use the temperature adjuster once or twice when it is not too close to ovulation, that should not pose a significant problem. More than a couple of temperatures taken at different times, however, can adversely effect the interpretation of your chart. You should try to avoid using the temperature adjuster if possible since adjusted temperatures are not nearly as accurate as those you record daily at the same time."

How close are you to O'ing? If you're super close, I'd just record the earlier temp and the time you took it. FF will indicate that it was a different time on your chart.

I think I am about a week out from Oing. I suppose I will change the time on the chart and go with the original temp. Thanks for your reply!

I would use the first temp and then record both temps and conditions in your notes section. This works pretty well for me (I have a newborn so I don't get super consistent sleep).

Personally, I would use the temp you took at your regular time and note all the details. It doesn't appear that waking effected it much since the temp you took and the temp adjustment based on the first temp are negligibly close. But then, this is from someone who rarely ever gets 3 hours sleep and is not only waking and going back to sleep but also having to get up through the night and still managing to chart so ... I'm just saying that's what I personally would do
