Hi Ladies,
Im about to start temping( we will be on cycle 5 and its killing me not knowing if i ovulate or not). AF should be here any day because all ive gotten are BFNs.
Anywho, i have a few temping questions for anyone willing to help me out.
I get up at 5:30 am 2 times a week and 630 am the rest of the time. Do you think its ok that i just continue to get up at those times while temping? I would really hate hate hate to get up at 530 am( even if it meant i could go back to sleep) everyday. Is there a thing on FF that would help adjust my temps/time? if so where?
My other question is, i recently have been waking up multiple times each night, im worried that might effect the outcome. As well when my alarm goes off i tend to "jump" up to turn it off, im worried that might effect my temp since you arent supposed to move at all.
Thanks for your help ladies!!!

Hi,

I am Donna (26 ) mom to David who is 21 months, I started temping when I was TTC him for pretty much the same reasons. I have an irregular cycle and I hated not knowing if I had O'd and then getting my hopes up every month.

I temp every morning at 4:30 am, My Dh gets up for work then Monday thru Friday so it just makes sense for me to just temp every morning at that time even if I don't have to. I have found it is more accurate.

I have to wake up severa times during the night as my son is still co sleeping and nursing. I am still able see my Ovulation pattern.

There is a way to adjust your temp using this link that was posted a while back
Basal Body Temperature Adjuster - WhenMyBaby

Good Luck

Ugh! Temping can be such a pain sometimes!! I know it stinks, but it's my understanding that you should take your temp at the same time every day -- I've been on Winter Break for the past two weeks and I've been getting up at 4:55 every morning to take my temp (ugh!!). Now, for some women it matters and for others it doesn't....but I still wouldn't take the chance.

FF has a temp adjuster, but FF also recommends that you not use it to officially log your temp. If you do, you should probably write down the earlier temp and time in the notes section.

Since this is only our fourth cycle off of BCP, it's been nice knowing that I am ovulating every month (or at least the two months that I've been temping!!). Good luck with temping!!

It would be better if you temped at the same time every day but I think you would be okay if you continued temping as you have. I would just make your 5:30 temps open circles (mark the sleep deprived check box) so you know that those temps are not accurate. I think you should still be able to tell when you ovulate, especially if you are keeping track of your other fertile signs.

I would also mark your chart sleep deprived any time you are woken up several times through the night.

If I wake up at a different time then normal, for whatever reason, I'll still temp but mark the sleep deprived box. It may not make a huge difference if you are doing it at different times, but it would be good to keep track with the open circles/using the notes box. Good luck!

I just wanted to add that I really like temping for the reasons that you wrote about. it is really cool to see that you actual Od and I love graphs etc. I woke up a lot during the night the first month of temping (this is only my second) but the novelty of it soon wears off and you turn into a robot. GL, I'm sure you will like it as well.
