I'm not sure if this is the right place to be putting this but all of you have been so helpful to me that this is the first place I thought of putting it. I hope it's okay
I just got back from my doctors appointment regarding my irregular cycles and my very heavy bleeding. I've been charting my cycles for the past couple months and my first cycle was 31 days.....my next cycle was 49 days. When I talked to the nurse about my irregular cycles she said it did not sound normal and that definatly warrants coming in to talk to my doctor. I've also had very heavy periods. The heaviness is only 2 out of the 5-7 days though. When I am on my heavy days I wear 2 pads front to back at night AND I have to get up atleast 2 times a night to change. I also go through a pad about every half hour. I can't even wear tampons without a pad underneath because of how heavy I bleed. I call them my "waterfall" days.
Well my appointment was at 9:30 this morning. I talked to my doctor about both things and to my surprise she said they were both normal. She did no testing and said there was nothing she could do about it.....that it is normal.
I'm having a VERY hard time understanding how my irregular cycles (to go from a 31 day cycle, to a 49 day cycle, etc....) and my heavy bleeding are normal!. They just don't seem normal to me!
The reason I'm writing though is to find out if you would seek a second opinion. I'm having a very hard time deciding because I absolutly LOVE my doctor!. She is the one that delivered Caleb. I hadn't met her until a couple weeks before Caleb was born and when I first met her, I wasn't too comfortable with her....but when I met with her at the hospital the day Caleb was born and when she was preparing my c-section, I was amazed!. She was the best doctor I have ever met! (I have seen her 4 times since my c-section). She is so friendly and so....just amazing!. I used to go to a closer office when I had another doctor in the same practice, but ever since her doing my c-section, I decided to switch doctors and go to their other office furthur away from my house just to see her!. But as you can see it is making it so hard to know if I should push for a second opinion or not because I don't want to loose her as a doctor....but at the same time, what I am experiencing just doesn't seem normal to me.
Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated!
OOOPS!. Now that I remember, she did say that she could put me on BC pills to regulate my period and to keep it from getting too heavy, but since DH and I are going to be TTC in May, she said it wouldn't be the best idea to do that right now and we could either discuss going on BC pills or an IUD to help my conditions after giving birth. She did say that there is nothing they can do now though and the BC pills or IUD was the only solution.
Does that sound okay to you?....or should I still look into getting a second opinion?
