Do you check internally or just inspect your toilet paper/underwear?

Alot of times I have CM internally, but not really noticeable externally....should I record it or not?

most of the times I can check what has come out onto my underwear/toilet paper, others, just to be sure that its a "dry" day, I check internally, using my mooncup (a menstrual cup, it works a treat when i have heavy days, and work a 10-12hr shift).

I check internally, the same why I would check my cervix.

Checking internally is actually less accurate. There are glands in the vagina called the Pockets of Shaw. During the infertile parts of the cycle, the CM dries up as it passes over these glands - they extract the water content from the CM. So going in to get it before it's had a chance to pass from inside to outside can make you think you have more fertile days than you actually do.

I observe the way researched and taught by the Billings Ovulation Method - sensation. So I take note of what I feel as I go about my day, while walking around. I pay attention to whether I'm feeling dry or sticky or wet or slippery and record that. If I happen to see anything on TP, I record that too but I don't go searching for it. The nerve endings at the vulva are so sensitive you can feel even the tiniest bit of CM as a sensation - when it would take 10 times the amount to see with the naked eye. Usually I find the sensation changes a day or two before I see any CM. So I go by sensation first, what I happen to see second.

I think it's interesting how everyone is so different in this area.

From every book I've read concerning this, if you're consistent with the way you check your CM, it will be accurate for you because you begin to see your own unique patterns after about the 3rd cycle of doing so.

Personally, as I don't typically produce copious amounts of EWCM, I check internally so I can catch it when I do have it. Otherwise (and I have tried this because I don't necessarily enjoy the science of sticking my fingers up there and inspecting things,) I don't notice very many accurate sensations throughout the day as DH has a way of making me feel particularly amorous without warning, and that's an awful time to note CM. LOL!

Yes, I had heard that checking internally is less accurate...but I always check my cervix daily so I can't help but notice my CM when I do my cervix check.

So...ahould I just ignore my internal findings and wait til I notice something externally?

Actually yeah. Just check your cervix at the end of the day after you've observed CM all day. Check it's position and firmness, but you can ignore any CM you find inside.
