hi ladies it is nice to meet you..i'm Kelly an active member on the AIP board and finally bought my first bbt..to give you a bit of background i have been on the never ending c i believe this is day 125..needless to say i am looking forward to my new c beginning when i take some provera..i have a very minor imbalance of progesterone so i am not ovulating on a regular basis..however my doctor said the level can fluctuate and i could o at anytime..my temp today was either 97.72 or 97.79 which to me seems a little higher then average..the only thing i am basing this on is i tend to take my temperature a lot on a regular basis curious to see what it is..i guess it was my way of trying to look at my bbt without the proper equipment..needless to say i have noticed it seems to be high..i'm hoping maybe this could be a sign i o'd?..i know there is really no way of telling since i have no previous c's to base it on..however i'm hoping maybe you can give me some advice?..thanks girls..

Hi Kelly! A couple of questions for you. Firstly, when have you been taking your temp to see what it is? When charting your BBT you MUST take your temperature after a minimum of 3 hours of sleep, at the same time each day and before you do anything. (No getting up to pee first or anything LOL You can't even talk before hand.) Also, has your doctor prescribed you progesterone? I ask because if you have an imbalance, this can cause you to miscarry when you do get pregnant if it's not corrected. Has he/she said anything about giving you pills or cream at any point to avoid a miscarriage?

hi thanks for responding hun..and i took it this morning when i woke up before i got out of bed or anything..and she gave me a prescription for provera to finally make af show up..i'm a little worried to start it though..after her telling me that i could o at anytime and get pg..i know i probably should just begin taking it..but my bbs are really sore and i'm having way more creamy cm then i've ever experienced sorry for the tmi..and she hasn't said anything about pills or cream..she seemed to think the imbalance was almost insignificant but enough to cause this long c..should i be worried about this?..

and Congrats on picking up your first BBT! I'm Nikki, the host of this board... we're so happy to have you! I'm happy to give you some advice on getting started...

You've already got your BBT... and that's the main part! Be sure to pick a Temp Time that you will be able to keep... consistently. It's certainly alright if you temp later on weekends due to sleeping in or other life situations... but for the most part, you want to stick to that time as best you can, as often as you can.

1. Take some time to check out the Fertility Charting School stuff on the board. There's tons of information in there to help break things down for you, like making sure you temp at the same time every day, taking your temp before doing ANYTHING else, etc.

2. I also recommend picking up a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. It's a fantastic book that is full of information about our cycles that we were never taught during Health Class. It's very popular, so you should have no trouble finding it. There may be a wait for it at your local library, but if you wish to buy a copy (It's my TTC Bible!) you should be just fine at a Border's, Barnes & Noble, etc.

3. Set up a Fertility Friend account. This is FAB! It gives you somewhere to enter all of your temps and the software does all of the "charting" part for you. It will determine your cover line and everything... which is really helpful when you're just getting started. It also gives you the ability to chart your CM (cervical mucus) and CP (cervical position) which I find to be invaluable when temps alone can be confusing. CM & CP will provide supporting evidence when O is approaching.

And finally... Ask plenty of questions, no matter how silly or how graphic they may seem. You'd be surprised how much it takes to make women who are TTC blush!! We've got some fabulously wonderful girls here who make me so proud to have them as regulars!! They jump to answer questions, stalk charts, interpret confusing temps, encourage you to pee on sticks, celebrate and console you...

Here's a bit of Fertility Charting's Super Mega Baby to get you started. I look forward to getting to know you and helping you navigate your way through your TTC journey.

I completely understand your hesitation to start the Provera. I was given a RX for it because I was roughly 90 days into my last cycle with no end in sight. Here's what I learned both from my doctor as well as from someone on here who helped me find information. The Provera will make you start bleeding a few days or so after taking it. If you are going to O, that will still happen and if you become pregnant, then of course you won't start AF. The risks to a baby is EXTREMELY minimal and so there is no worry about taking that if you end up pregnant. However if you think you are that close and feel better about it, just give it a few days or a week before you start taking it. That will give you a chance to start your temping and tracking your CM if you choose.

Now I am not a medical professional, but I imagine that if you have a big enough imbalance to keep AF away for this long, I think that you have a big enough imbalance to possible affect a pregnancy. I would definitely ask your doctor about it just to be sure.

I am curious to know...when is the last time that you did a pregnancy test? I ask because of the sore bb's and the excess of creamy CM. Those are two of them most common symptoms that I've seen of girls who've gotten BFP's that month.

And I am so sorry, I was so ready to help answer your questions that I forgot to say Welcome!! I love this board and the girls here are really great. Nikki (as always) provided you with really great advice and I definitely second her suggestion to sign up with Fertility Friend.

I would definitely test again before you start the Provera! Keep us posted about those results!
