Hi everyone!

Just a quick question about temperatures. Does anyone know what the average difference between your BBT and your regular daily temperature may be, roughly?? I mean, I realize that for charting you must use your BBT and that when you get moving it throws things off.. but I was wondering if there's ever been any notes on about how MUCH things change?

I'm asking because out of curiosity I took my temperature yesterday evening after I had been vegging on the computer for a while. It came up as 98.5. This morning when I took my BBT, it was 98. Not much different! I know that may have been coincidence, but I decided to give it another shot. I took my temperature this evening and it was 96.9! Shockingly low.. So I'm just really worried now that my BBT tomorrow will be a significant drop.. which would indicate AF is coming.

Is it still possible that it can go from 96.9 back to 98 or so by tomorrow morning? Wouldn't it, on average, be LOWER than my regular daily temperature??

Hey there! There's actually no possible way to get an average difference between the two because there are so many factors involved. The reason that you are supposed to chart your BBT after a minimum of 3 consecutive hours of sleep is because your waking temperature is affected by movement, talking, eating, drinking, inconsistent temperatures throughout your house (generally one room is going to be colder or warmer than another), brushing your teeth...the list goes on. So definitely don't hold any stock in those temps taken during the day!

Thanks Ladies! My temp was at 98F again this morning so I'm relieved. I don't know why it was so low in the evening! Oh well, I guess it doesn't tell me anything!

Id stay awat from testing during the day unless you think you are sick or something. You will end up driving yourself nutty about it and they arent really related
