Hi! I'm new! I have been charting for 18 days and no ovulation. I am waiting for my temperature to spike but got the email from fertility friend last night that every chart is different. Fertility friend hasn't detected ovulation yet. My question is: Is it more important that you take your temp at the same time every day or right when you wake up? My husband wakes up 20 minutes or so before me. Lately I have been waking up a little before his alarm goes off and trying not to move because it says don't move around. Today I took my temp when my husband woke up at it was 97.7. Then I layed in bed for about 15 minutes and took my temp again and it was 97.4! That seems like a big difference and I was thinking about just taking my temp right when I wake up as long as it has been three hours of sleep. What do you ladies think? Thanks for the help!

it is important to temp at the same time each morning..if it is like 15mins off or something it shouldn't make a difference..but especially on weekends if you sleep in you should still temp at your regular time..i am still new to charting so Carrie will have much better information for you..I'm Kelly it is nice to meet you hun!..

Taking your temp at the same time is important, but it should also be after 3 hours of solid sleep. So, when I work dayshift, I take my temp at 6am. When I work till midnight and get to sleep in, I still set my alarm for 6am and just go back to sleep after. When I work until 4am, I just let myself sleep and wake up whenever and temp, but I make sure to record the different time on FF so it shows an open circle meaning there was something that may make the temp not as accurate.

If you want the girls to be able to look at your chart, you can edit your signature in your profile and post a link to your chart

Good luck and hope your stay here is short and sweet!

Tammy explained it great.

I am Carrie btw one of the hosts.
Its important to take it at the same time but after 3 hours of sleep. SO. If my kiddo gets up before 6am, say 530, I take my temp then before getting out of bed. You enter that time in FF, if it is too much of a time difference it marks that temp with an open circle and takes that into consideration when calculating things.

If you link your chart we will be happy to stalk it for you
