I've posted this on the TTC board too, but does/has anyone used the saliva ferning tests? I'm seriously thinking of getting one this mo, but I want to hear more from people who have or do use one. I like that it's reusable, it's pretty definate on if you have a surge, can use it to detect PG (although I don't think it's recommended for that! lol), it fairly inexpensive. The one I'm looking at is $28. Cheaper then months of OPKs. It just seems to me that it would help take out most of the guess work of urine dip opks. I'm actually torn on if I should get a saliva ferning test, or a pack of digi opks (I really need to make sure I detect O this mo. We are tta but I'm working nights for a mo and don't want to incorrectly gauge my temp surges).

Im most curious about this as well because I as well work nights and temping isn't optimal for me and as much as I love poas I find that opks are hard for me to tell sometimes if its truly a +.

Good luck & I hope someone can shed some light on this

lol I know. I kinda like POAS too. A girl on the TTC board had bought one off ebay, but didn't like it. She only tried it on month. She might have had a bad one, or given up too quickly, but I'm thinking I'll check out the return policy before I buy one and maybe give it a try anyway... If for no other reason then just for fun/curiosity.

Looks like I'm the only one here that has one of these!!

This is the one I have

And I absolutely LOVE it... Especially these past few months that I've been on Clomid. I haven't been having any luck getting proper + OPKs since my 2nd round of Clomid, so my saliva-scope has come in soooo handy! I've gotten full ferns that were unmistakable!

So, overall... I HIGHLY recommend it!

I used it but never got to see full ferns and was a little disappointed this month because I usually have partials by now but there is nothing on the scope! I think it's worth a try!

Nikki, that's the one I'm thinking about getting! I'm just wondering though if I am estrogen dominant, will I get constant ferns? Hmmmmmm....

Hmm... that is a good question.

I would venture a guess... and it's only a guess... that if you are estrogen dominant, that you MAY have more days of ferns than someone who is not, but I would think if you're not at "O levels", then the ferns should only be partials.

That's just my guess. I've heard it said that people with PCOS often get constant ferning or repeated + OPKs... I've never experienced either, and I have PCOS... so, it may work for you.
