I don't have any trouble charting my CM... but then again, I'm not at all squeamish. I check my CM internally, not on a tissue, because I can't "feel" what it's like... and that's what's most important... not how it looks.
If it feels slippery, that's on the EWCM end of things... If it's thick but smooth when you pull your fingers apart, then it's creamy. If it's thick but leaves little peaks when you pull your fingers apart, then it's sticky. If it's very thin, but not slippery... then it's watery.
If you are having multiple types of CM in a day, you want to mark your
MOST FERTILE CM of the day on your chart.
As for telling the difference between CM and semen... Place a drop of the "fluid" into a glass of water. If it dissolves, it's semen. If it forms a ball and sinks to the bottom, it's CM.
