I've been charting for a long time now and feel pretty comfortable with what my body does. It's always been pretty normal (even though I have PCOS and am usually anovulatory)

My problem just recently has become an issue of my temperature dropping all morning long.

I usually take my temp at 8:00 am in the morning. Sometimes I wake up before this and will temp always when I wake up. So say at 6:00 AM I wake up and I get the temp of 96.8, usually I can go back to sleep and just double check at my normal time of 8:00 AM and even if it's about the same or a little higher (or much higher) it ALWAYS RISES. A normal change for my temp would be from 96.8 to around 97.00.

Now just lately I'm having a problem where like, this morning I temped at 5:00 am (I couldn't sleep because I have posoin ivy. lol) and got 96.7 then actually got up, used the bathroom and went back to sleep (which would normally make my temp rise much higher). So when I woke up at 8:30 I temped just to compare, and my temp was now 96.5!
If this was just an isolated incident I wouldn't think much of it, but I've noticed this happening just recently where even in situations where I don't get up, and everything is the same- I notice that my temps just keep falling throughout the morning...and the later I wake up, the lower my temp is!

I'm getting solid night of uninterrupted sleep so I know it's not something in my lifestyle that's changed.

I thought that was the opposite of what was supposed to happen?
I'm also really confused becuase I keep getting periods of spotting and cramping but without any visible ovulation on my chart...I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.

What hormone imbalances could be going on here? I hesitate to ask my doctor becuase they usually look at me like I'm from another planet when I talk about charting...and I've already talked to them about the spotting and my only options are birth control or clomid (we are ttc).

I just have never seen my temps do this before and I'm wondering what could be going on.

I'm going to x post this in TTC, I'm really confused and need some experts to help me out!

Read the information I posted in teh "I just want to share" thread to start.

Then the next question is what type of diet do you eat? Not like are you on a weight loss diet, just what are your normal eating habits.

I read over your thread. As part of my PCOS diagnosis my thyroid was checked and found to be functioning at normal levels. I don't have any luteal phase issues, my shortest one was around 10 days and it was becuase of breastfeeding (I'm no longer bfing).

My diet usually is around four meals a day, geared towards controlling my slight insulin resistance...I always eat protein with carbs and try to keep my sugar intake under control. I've recently been loosing some weight (I'm within the healthy range but towards the upper end and sometimes even a small amount of weight loss will positivly impact PCOS and spur ovulation so I'm trying that).

I take a regular pre-natal, 5,000ius of Vitamin D (PCOS related) and I take half a dose of a chromium, liposic acid combination that aims at controlling blood glucose levels.

I appreciate your attempt to help! Please hypotesis away!!!!!!!

Do you happen to know the actual lab values for yout thyroid function? Hypo-thyroidism is one of the most under diagnosed things out there because doctors don't pay as much attention to it as they should. You can have normal lab values and still need treatment, you extremely low temps would be one thing tht would point to it, your IR and PCOS would be another. Also, have they tested your adrenals? Another culprit.

How ready are you to make a complete dietary change and go against conventional wisdom with your way of eating? The changes you have made are helpful, but there is more to it and there is a way of eating that might help you, but you would have to be ready to defend your choices, not always fun, but worth it IMHO. I switched in August and after 3.5 years of following the guidelines from my docs and my dietician I finally lost weight, going from 190 to 154 in about 4 months. Before that I had only lost 10 pounds in the previous 3.5 years. I believe I have insulin resistance too and I had all of my weight in my abdominal area, which is finally dropping off. Anyway, if you are interested I will share

I would be happy to hear, my supsicion is more of an eating clean approach and I already kind of do that so....I rarely use sugar or processed flour, chemicals, etc. Most of my food is homemade with honey and wheat flour...I've also been completely dairy free (completely) and have eaten only home organic raised or wild meat. None of those things have made an impact on my fertility or temps...currently I maintain an everything in moderation diet while trying to stay as clean and organic as possible. So if you have something new to share, by all means...

I guess I'll double check with my doctor about thyroid stuff while I'm at it...

It is about eating clean, but requires you to cut out grains, beans and potatoes. A lot of people have trouble with the idea, but it has been a life saver for me, my husband, my parents and my aunt. What this does is makes it so you are not eating inflammatory foods, by limiting the inflammationin your body it helps everything to function better.
