I’m confused about my LP. I’ve been TTC for two years now, and have quite long cycles. I don’t use OPK’s or temp, but keep track of my CM and CP. On average, I get my fertile signs around day twenty, and have on average a 34 day cycle, which would make my LP around 14 days, which is about average. However, the past three cycles have been odd

Fertile CM on CD13, but 31 day cycle
Fertile CM on CD13 and 14, but 34 day cycle
Fertile CM on CD12, currently on day 23.

Any thoughts on whats going on? Why has my fertile “bit” of my cycle shifted to a week earlier, but my cycle is staying the same length? Is something wrong? Or am I just having a few wonky cycles?

It's difficult to tell when you only say 1 fertile day hun, how long does the fertile period last for? Perhaps it's just longer than usual? If you're not 100% sure on the day you O, it might just be that you get a lil fertile CM, then not then do again at your usual O time. Hope that makes sense?

I just had a look at your charts, but there;s no info at all on last cycle's chart so it's impossible to comment on it Sorry Cat I'm no help!

If you only have CM for 1 or 2 days per cycle, that would indicate that ovulation is probably not occurring those cycles. To confirm ovulation with CM you need to identify a pattern of CM that develops and changes for a bare minimum of 3 days. The length of the mucus phase reflects follicular development.

THanks for the replies

i only tend to get one or two days fertile CM, although i do get watery/creamy cm on other days, but never a lot of anything. I've been quite rubbish at filling in my chart, because i said i was going to stop charting.

But, does this mean basically, just because my fertile CM has moved doesn't necessarily mean that i've O'd on a different date, if i've O'd at all?

Watery and creamy is fertile CM too! Be sure to mark that and BD on days you have it. On average, how long is your mucus phase - from the first time you feel or see *any* kind of CM until the last day it is slippery?

CM is produced in response to the process of ovulation. The time of ovulation coincides with this. The time of ovulation can also move from cycle to cycle.
