Where did the doc come up with the 21 days?

If you are in the middle of your cycle, you can start temping to get used to doing it everyday.

Other wise, sign up for a charting site online, there are a few, many women us fertility friend, but that may not be the best one for you to use since you have PCOS and it works best for 'typical' cycles. I like the one from Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Which by the way is an excellent book to read to get to know more about charting.

Welcome!

The first thing you'll want to do is get a good bbt (a thermometer used for FC) and it is helpful to have a fertility charting program to keep track of your temps and other data. I use Fertility Friend to chart with and I really like it. Another thing that I find is helpful to pinpoint ovulation is the use of OPKs (ovulation predictor kits).

You may want to check out the fertility charting school subforum (found here: Fertility Charting School - JustMommies Message Boards) for some general tips as well.
