Chels, this is what I found:
Quote:
Taking Temperatures Orally or Vaginally
You can take your temperature orally or vaginally. Some women find taking their temperatures vaginally is more accurate, but it’s really up to you. Once you decide which method you will temp with, stick with it throughout your fertility cycle. If you start with oral temps and then switch to vaginal, your chart will not be accurate.

Yep, I wouldn't do it, especially since you are close to O it seems.

I would wait the start of your next cycle... IF there is another cycle. You know I temp vaginally and my charts have looked much smoother and less up and down this way.

Are you still breastfeeding? My chart was a disaster when I was breastfeeding. It never looked normal, more like an illustration of a mountain chain. There were some pretty funky charts in the months following weaning as well. The first month following weaning I got a temp rise(looked exactly like a normal O), but didn't ovulate for almost 20 days later(on 44 DPO!). I was in and out of doctor offices wondering what was wrong with all the pregnancy tests in the world. I did conceive that cycle, but it ended as a chemical. =P

Temping vaginally can be a bit of an inconvinence, but I totally recommend it. Especially if you tend to breath through your mouth at night like I do. I have much clearer and easier to read charts when I temp vaginally. Orally...... It's like a shot in the dark trying to detect my O date!

Ditto what MountainMomma said - i initially hated it but it is now part of my daily routine. Plus my charts are finally normal-looking (I deleted my oral ones, they were a disaster!)
