I will be turning 30 this year and very anxious to have a baby. Right now, I'm in my third cycle off the pill. Before the pill my periods were heavy, lots of cramps, and somewhere between 30-35 or so days. I was only 16 when I went on the pill, and didn't keep track of my periods that well, but I remember it not coming exactly on the same day every month, but it definitely came every month. I had been on the pill for 13 years before I stopped taking it 3 cycles ago.

My first cycle post-pill was 31 days and my period was really heavy and lots of cramps. At the beginning of my second cycle, I began temping, using OPKs, and checking my CM. I discovered that I did ovulate (had positive OPK, and a temp shift), but my luteal phase was only 10 days. My period was also a lot lighter, not heavy like the first one off the pill. I was hoping that this third cycle would be normal. However, it is not. My temps have been between 97.20 and 97.30 every day and this is cycle day 21. I got a positive OPK on CD 14 and had eggwhite CM, but never got a temperature shift. I'm not sure what is going on. I'm hoping that my period comes as scheduled and this month was just a fluke. I'm crossing my fingers that is the case and I ovulate next cycle.

Has anyone been in a situation like this? How long did it take before your cycles went back to normal? I'm starting to lose my patience here! We aren't trying yet, I wanted to come off the pill a few months before we started trying to give my body some time to adjust. However, this is my third cycle off and we were wanting to start trying soon. I'm just crossing my fingers that things start working properly soon! It is stressing me out big time! Does anyone have any suggestions or helpful advice?? Thanks!

Hi... I'm Nikki (35).

I don't have any personal experience of charting after the pill, since I haven't taken it for about 5 or 6 years.

I do know it generally takes a few cycles for your body to get back into the habit of doing things on it's own... and since you've been on the pill since you were 16, your body probably hasn't really had a whole lot of chances to O on it's own with any kind of regularity.

I did want to welcome you to the board and let you know there are loads of really helpful girls here, who I know have been on the pill more recently than myself and should be able to give you some advice and/or encouragement.

Here are my charts if anyone is interested. Cycle #1 post-BCP at the bottom (April) was 31 days long. Not sure why it's showing up shorter. I didn't temp or chart that first month.

It's probably showing up shorter because you didn't chart any temps or CM that cycle. I've never been on BC pills so I don't know much about it, but it seems that most girls takes few cycles to get their cycles regulated. Good luck and happy ttcing!

Welcome!

I haven't been on BC either for several years, so I'm not really familiar with what a chart would look like after BC. But, there are other girls on here who have come off of BC so we'll get your thread bumped up.

I have a similar post-BC dilemma except that since coming off it in April, I have not had one period! I started charting about 2 months into it because it was freaking me out that my body was this messed up. I am 31 and was on the pill since I was 24 so not even that long when compared to many people...

My chart, since I started temping on 6/23, did show a 1.5 degree thermal shift on 6/29 and FF drew a dotted coverline a few days after (my temps since have been above it) but I won't believe it was actual ovulation until I get my period (which should be this weekend since I am on DPO8 today).

I would also love to hear from people who came off BC and experienced something similar...

I had 2 positive OPKs followed by a temp jump, and thought for sure I was ovulating (on CD 25), but then on CD 26 (today) my temp jumped back down. Don't know if this is a fallback rise, or another false alarm? Anyone have any thoughts???

Here are my charts:

Looks promising. Might have to wait a couple more days just to see, but I'd definitely count that as a possibility for now.

Hey everyone, just wanted to give you an update. It looks like I did O it was just late for some reason. I am 5 days DPO right now. Last cycle my LP was only 10 days. I've been taking Vitamin B6 all this cycle, so keep your fingers crossed that this LP is longer!! Thanks everyone for looking at my chart
