Hi,

I am new to the board (this one and TTC). I was wondering if there are any members who could help me, reassure me, whatever...

I am 31 and went of the pill (Yasmin) in late April to start NTNP. Well, since coming off it and getting a withdrawal bleed in late April, I've yet to have a real period. Two months into, I was freaked out enough to start charting and joined Fertility Friend on 6/23 (CD57). On 6/29 (CD63) I had a 1.5 degree thermal shift that FF deemed due to ovulation but after going AF-less for over 2 months, I am dubious... Can one have a shift like that and have it not be caused by ovulation? A few days later, FF drew a dotted coverline for me at 97.17 and my temps have been over that coverline for the past 8 days (so I am on DPO8 today. 7/6). Before 6/29, my temps have been below that but now I am so paranoid that I think maybe they were below because I wasn't accounting for sleeping with my mouth open or something... I just don't know what to think! A few weeks ago I didn't even know what BBT was and now that I am charting, I feel like I still don't know much. Is FF accurate when it draws coverlines and ovulation lines or can it be wrong? Could I still not have ovulated?

Can anyone who came off BC and had a similar experience, share theirs? I just want to know what the heck is going on in that body of mine, lol

Hi Alina and welcome to the board! I haven't been on BCP so I can't say for sure, but I think that you may have ovulated. Your body may still be adjusting but it seems like you did ovulate since there is that shift. But there isn't that many temps before O so it's not 100% for sure. The dotted lines mean that FF is not too sure you did ovulate but it's possible. Let's hope that you get your period soon and you can start on a new one. Have you had any problems with long periods before you went on the pill?

Arya: thanks for the reply and looking at the chart. It was pretty significant jump so maybe it was O, especially since there was also a slight dip before the big jump, which often happens before O (or so I've read).

An update: yesterday I had some weird cramps (weird because it's been awhile since I've had cramps as I didn't have much of that on the pill) that I thought would signal the beginning of AF but today, DPO9, I've had nothing and my temp is still up (97.77). The cramps were also not quite the same as period cramps, if I remember correctly. I don't know; this whole thing is just really confusing... I can't believe they don't warn you about the pill and its effects of this nature before you get on it

Yeah, I guess we'll see what happens this weekend... But I hope others will respond with their post-BCP experiences!

I am very new to charting and just came off BCP's in the beginning of June so it's been about a month. All I can tell you is what I've experienced so far and from what I hear everyone woman is different!

When I came off the pill I had skipped my period between the last two packs due to being on my honeymoon, so I didn't get that "period" and when I stopped the pills for good at the end of my pack in June I never even had a withdrawal "period". I had EWCM throughout the month of June but wasn't temping and got AF after a 25 day cycle. AF was not my norm, I had 2 days of heavy bleeding without cramps followed by 3 days of spotting and then a ton of EWCM on CD 7.

I only started temping 8 days ago with the start of this AF and it's too early to see any temp shift for me. I agree with you on how frustrating it is coming off BCP's and having no clue what to expect from your cycle. I'm crossing my fingers that I get back to "normal" soon! Just know you're not alone!

My temps are still up at 11DPO. I keep thinking, though, that those initial low temps are due to sleeping with my mouth open... I am that paranoid! I really hope my cycle is back to normal but after not having AF visit for 2.5 month a girl gets concerned...

It's doubtful that several temps could be artificially low from having your mouth open, and then be high like they have been. If you sleep with your mouth open, you likely do it all the time. It certainly looks like you have a good thermal shift to me.

As far as the cramps go, I know I always have little cramps a day or two before AF comes, and I always know that means she's on her way. I think it's just my body getting ready for AF. But everyone is different, so that may not be the case with you, but it's possible! If you did O, you should have somewhere around 12-14 DPO before your temps drop and AF comes. HTH!
