I just had my 3rd baby 6 weeks ago and haven't picked a form of BC. We are really on the fence about #4 or not. Indecision will eventually become a decision, if you KWIM. So I thought about trying to take my BBT again and chart, but reading through FF again I realized I forgot about the good night sleep thing. My DD is not sleeping through the night yet and I usually get up to change her diaper once a night, so that would throw off the temp right? She sleeps on her own between 10pm-2am. Then I change her and co-sleep and nurse in bed until about 7 or 8am.

Do you think that will be reliable enough to chart? I don't really expect my period or ovulation to begin again until earliest 3 or 4 months, but ya never know! I'm kinda going about this from the view point... If I catch when I become fertile again then at that point I can really worry about BC. But for the time being I know I will mess up the mini-pill, and anything else will screw up my milk supply. So it's kind of buying me time.

Thoughts? Advice?

Hi there and congratulations on the little one To get some kind of an accurate chart you need at least 3 to 4 hours of deep sleep every night. If you feel you can get that much and wake up at about the same time, I'd say go ahead. If you're tta and you find you're waking up more at night, I don't know if I would trust my chart. Can you use condoms or something that doesn't require pills?

You sure can! The NFP rules for avoiding work before your cycles return while BFing. If it's difficult to get accurate temps right now, there are charting systems that use CM only (Billings, Creighton Model) - only in more detail than FF so you can rely on it for TTA. With proper training in how that all works, effectiveness is 99%. Higher than condoms.
