My 14 month old still isn't sleeping super well through the night, he used to but has been waking a few times at night lately the last few months. I started temping again and I know I'm not getting accurate temps because of the times I'm doing it. We (co-sleeping) go to bed at about 9 and he usually wakes up again about 11, he goes right back to sleep but it obviously wakes me too (and I usually get up and use the bathroom, check on the kids ect before I go back to sleep). Then he'll generally sleep again until 4-6am when he wakes for "breakfast" then he goes back to sleep till 8ish. I get up at 6:50 to make my husband lunch and see him off to work then go back to bed till the kids are up. When school starts up we'll be up at 6am M-F. So I know I need to temp when I've been asleep for several hours but before he wakes up for breakfast - which I'd like to just say I'd temp when he wakes to nurse but it could be 4am it could be 6am, big time differences! Would I be crazy to set an alarm for like 3am just to temp? That's the only time I can figure that I will have had a steady 4 hours of sleep in and be before someone wakes me up! Is that crazy? 3am isn't too early for temping is it? It's been a while since I've done this and I don't quite remember lol!

No it isn't too early, as long as you get atleast 3 hours of sleep beforehand. I learned this cycle that it is also important to do it the same time everyday... Goodluck!

ROSE!!!! Nice to see you here!! I agree with Erica. As long as you're getting 3-4 straight hours at the last leg, then you're fine.

I never temped the same time because i woke up too many times during the day. (i am a night nurse)

I would temp on my first wake up, as long as it was 3-4 hours after going to sleep. My temps were all over the place so i started temping vaginally. It made all the difference in the world. I wasn't perfect, but i could see a pattern enough to follow.

Thanks for the input! I went ahead and set alarm for 3am to temp and started today. Hunter went down at 10pm (with me) and didn't wake till after 4am (even slept through my alarm!) so I had in 5 hours of sleep before taking it!
