Okay here's my story..
I'm trying to get pregnant and my last period was July 1st, I got a positive ovulation test on Cycle day 19. I was supposed to start July 29th, I still haven't started, so that would make me 5 days late. My cycle can be up to 31 days, it's normally 28. But at the moment my breast are so swollen and the veins are popping out really big and the Areola are twice maybe three times the normal size! I took First Response Pregnancy test today, and it was negative. my question is if I don't start is this something that needs to be looked at? is there a chance I tested too soon, I'm 26 years old. and I've never had any swelling or extreme tenderness leading up to or during my period.
My question is, I read something on Peeonastick and It made me wonder if perhaps being that I got a positive Ovulation test on Cycle day 19, if the bold text below is correct, would that make me only 1 day late? I can't figure out if I'm 5 days late or 1. I'm so confused. HELP!

From PeeOnAStick: The time between ovulation and your next period, known as the "luteal phase," is fairly consistent. (A normal luteal phase is 10-16 days; whatever yours happens to be, it will probably only vary by a day or two.) Ovulation is delayed by stress-- all kinds of stress, even good stress-- so illness, travel, excitement, or even a random fluke can cause your egg to be tardy. (Note: stress cannot delay your period once ovulation has occurred.) So, if you are expecting, say, a 30-day cycle and you're having negative tests and no period by Day 35, it's possible that you simply ovulated later than usual, and your period will arrive as normal at the end of your usual luteal phase.

So, to use myself as an example again, I usually have 11 day luteal phases (LP's.) This means occasionally I have a 10 or 12-day LP. So my period would be "late" if it hadn't started 13 days after ovulation. Therefore, if I ovulate on Day 15, I would be "late" by Day 28. If I ovulate on Day 19, I'm not "late" until Day 32. My rare Day 35 ovulation meant I wasn't "late" until Day 48!

Swollen breasts and enlarged nipples are effects of pregnancy, but most people I know(including me) didn't get larger nipples for a while.

If you got a + OPK, then there's a good chance you are 5 days late, but a lot of women will get those and not ovulate for a couple days or weeks. This cycle I got really stressed, and I've geared up to O like 5 times. Day 54, and still no temp rise, though. It's true that stress, even happy stress, has a big impact on some people.

You might also be pregnant. When I was with DD, I tested at 6 weeks, and it was negative. I didn't get a BFP till 8 weeks in. You might have to wait. Do you have other signs? Cramping, especially during sex? Slight nausea, dizziness? Have you checked your cervix to see if it's still closed? I know it's not a reliable pregnancy indicator, but many women will notice it opens up shortly before AF comes.

If you got a + OPK on cd 19, you may not have ovulated until cd 20 or 21. I've read that you can O anywhere between 12 - 48 hours after a positive (different people say different things). So, that might change your testing date by a day or 2.

I would wait another day or 2 and test again. Good luck!

Did you continue to use OPK's after that first +? Maybe you had several days of + and O'd later than you thought. Definitely sounds like promising symptoms - I would wait a few days and test again. Or better yet... can you get a blood test? GL! KUP!

with everything that's been said by the previous posters...

Generally the day before your temp spike is O day... that often helps take the guesswork out of things.

Hopefully you're just testing too soon...

Best of Luck & Baby

I've had a little spotting today. so I'm guessing I'll be starting soon. I'm still really not sure what's going on with my breasts.. still very swollen and sore.
